Porto
Porto has stolen my heart ♥ get there, the campsite recommended by the caravan club was in poor condition but easy access to Porto, at least the pitches are flat the people are wonderful, wear good walking boots!

My wife and daughters went there for a 'girlie' holiday. They said it was boring with very little to do (unless you liked port). I had wanted to see it, but OH refuses to go back. Lisbon, on the other hand , is fantastic.

The approved site is awful! I stayed there ONCE! Site directly under Porto flightpath! Pitches for caravans almost impossible. Totally agree Lisbon or Lagos much nicer and good sites nearby

We tried Porto a few years ago, never made it into the city.
First campsite was bad, pitches in a terrible state and very overcrowded.
Second site was a bit better but under very tall pine trees, the open part of the site we were told on arrival isn't ready yet as the grass needs cutting which we will start in a day or 2.
So we found a pitch of sorts, the facilities were ok but needed a good clean as they were full of cobwebs. Only when we got back to the site later in the afternoon from our cycle ride did we find the open area that we were told we couldn't use was filling up with other vans (not British)
The bus that was supposed to stop outside the site to take us into Porto the next day never happened, we stood there for over an hour waiting.
Went to speak to reception to find out if this is normal and was there another way of getting into Porto. Was met with total indifference couldn't care less attitude. So we packed up and left and went back to Spain, OH will not go back again.

Our only attempt at visiting Porto was thwarted by rough seas!!! We couldn't get into the port. It does seem to be a fascinating City and of course the gateway to the Douro Valley which I think can be explored by train and possible boat?
