Motorhoming with dialysis
Last year I started on peritoneal dialysis using a Fresenius machine overnight at home. After several months I am now getting more confident with home dialysis and I am looking at how we can holiday with it. It has been several years since we had a caravan and now we are considering purchasing a motorhome.. I would be interested to know if anyone has used a peritoneal dialysis machine in a motorhome and to hear how they get on with it. Obviously we would always need to use a site with hook up, but I wonder if there would be room in a motorhome to keep all the equipment and if so, which layout is best.

I am not sure how many people will see your request for information in the Story Section so I will move it to Caravan and Motorhome Chat where hopefully you will get some help and advice.

I suggest you visit a few motorhome dealers, Granny, and see what’s on offer. There are numerous layouts available, some with more space than others so you’ll then be able to see if it’s a viable proposition.
Good hunting.

You might find this link useful. MM is a free forum so you might be able to get up to date info. I would try all the dedicated motohome forums that allow at least a few free posts because as you can imagine, it is not a common query. Try looking on Motorhome Fun as that is probably the busiest forum.

Sorry I cannot be of specific help. I wish you well and hope you find a way that works for you.

Thank you for all the replies. We have started to look at motorhomes for sale and that has been helpful. It would be nice to hear from anyone who is on dialysis and experienced travelling in a motorhome.

I think only you will know how much room your dialysis fluid, machinery, etc., takes up. And just ow long you can be away realistically. I would agree with the above posts about looking at layouts - there isn't that much room in a motorhome. However, googling 'Kidney dialysis and motormes' comes up with lots of potential sources of information. See what you can find there.
Best of luck. My mum used to come caravanning with us, complete with her oxygen cylinders, but I imagine dialysis takes a lot more in the way of sterile supplies.
