New update to Archies Campings - May 2018
There is a new update to Archies Campings available on line now.
For those not familiar with this website, it is a database of details of more than 32,000 campsites throughout Europe, with files which can be downloaded for almost every make of SatNav, and then included in your POI files. There is also an App available at a modest price, which includes future updates. You can access the App through the website home page.
This update has more information about opening dates, and lots of new smaller sites, especially in the Netherlands.
If you notice any incorrect information, or know of a new (or closed) campsite, please let 'Archie' know, through the contact button on the website.
Please feel free to share this information on any other camping/caravanning/motorhome/motor cycling/hiking/walking/cycling websites where you may be a member.

Thanks Valda. We find this invaluable although I had a bit of a problem loading my Garmin this year. Nothing wrong with Archie’s but with the Garmin you need to use the POI Loader from their website once to delete the old files then once to load the new ones. Only problem is that you need to know whether the POIs are on the SatNav unit or on the memory card!

I successfully downloaded Archie’s to my integral sat nav in my Santa Fe, and used it during recent trip to France.
But didn’t always find it easy to find the site I was looking for, in the listing. Not sure if this is due to the software in my sat nav or the way Archie’s list works. When using the ‘search’ function by typing in name of site, I found it only worked if I typed it exactly letter-perfect from start to finish. (Eg, does it begin with Camping, or Le) And if needing to locate a site in, say, Troyes, it found nothing if I simply typed in the word Troyes.
is this how it works? Or do folk use it differently?

I generally load the nearest destination town on my SatNav (Garmin) then search for listings nearby. I also have a separate Archie’s ACSI list which reduces the searches.

Thanks for responses. However, the way my sat nav works is to use the added POI lists (both Archie’s & CCMH sites) as separate to the integrated POI list, and as such the normal POI functions of ‘find nearest to’ don’t apply. So I cannot simply input town, and then search for nearest Archie site.
Maybe I’ll keep an excel copy of Archie list on phone so I could use the CTRL F search function to find the site first, and then, once I know name, I could find on sat nav.

Have you tried using inverted commas around the text you input (“)? Works for computer searches but maybe not on your SatNav.
