The reporting had been going on for several months, Tammygirl and I had several emails from the CM about it. I couldn't influence the CMs decisions, on the way these reports were dealt with, but it seemed to me, that whoever was on the agenda, of continually pestering the CM, through excessive use of the report button, was causing so much concern, that the CM was beginning to feel that some action needed to be taken against me. There are many on here who have said that they could see nothing wrong with anything that I posted. Unfortunately, the reporter or reporters point of view seemed to take precedence over that.

As there was nothing I could do to stop this, I decided to leave the forum because there was no other way of resolving the problem. After I left, my life became a lot more peaceful because the emails about the reporters complaints stopped. This ended the harrassing of me and stressing me out!

The problem is that everytime someone presses the report button, threads get closed and posts get Deleted User. Clearly, IanH and Tigerfish have both expressed their dissatisfaction. They are fed up with it and I can see their point of view. There needs to be a lot more tolerance on here than there has been. Otherwise, others who feel unaccepted, will cease posting and there will be fewer and fewer posters left on here.

A funny old thing this reporting of posts. I know that Millie had said that some of your posts upset her Malcolm. I would hope that if somebody was upset by a post of mine that they would say so on open forum. I have doubtless upset somebody at sometime and if it was not intended would happily apologise on forum.

If I have a friendly dig at somebody on forum I rarely use a smiley as I hope that folk will presume that there was no malice intended. You may no doubt have made a post that was thoughtless of other's feelings at some time but I have not seen any malice Malcolm.

I recall that there were some posts condemning you and your way of life etc which were not particularly nice I wonder if they were reported as well?

It was a lovely holiday, thank you Millie, the only place that we unfortunately didn't get to visit was Heddons Mouth, looked it up after it was suggested and it looked great, will have to save it for next time.

Hope the weather holds for you in Norfolk, forecast looks ok for the East, we've had beautiful weather on our last 4 trips, West Wales next  I'am not sure we are that lucky that we can make it 5 undecidedlaughing

Malc, we all have different tolerance levels to others ‘banter/posts’ the only way to stand a good chance of not being reprimanded/banned is by taking heed of others posts & keeping it friendly. Being reported isn’t a foregone conclusion that chastisement will follow. I’ve been reported-I’ve had emails explaining my ‘drifting’ from the T&C’s, I’ve had more reports than emails which suggest not all reports are founded. I like this forum & I don’t intend to lose access to it due to my own stupidity👍🏻😊

It's back to work today, and I know that the work will have piled up in my absence, the boss usually checks the emails but has a habit of "accidently " deleting a few, so I have to go the the trash folder too. yell

Still the sun is shining so if I get a move on I can peg out the holiday washing.

Have a good day everyone. smile

That means I'll have to rush through chores this morning and find another book to read outside!

I wondered how you could possibly know that you had been reported more often than you received e-mails. Is that because you have had an e-mail starting off 'We have received a number of reports ............. '?

Same here Goldie but I'm off to see my dear old Mum before we go away.

Millie I will look in to see what you are up to in Ludham, hope you enjoy your stay.

Glad Helen and OH enjoyed N Devon. My sister and family have a "share" in a railway house over there so we've all had nice breaks over that way. The house is the old station master's house for a part of the Lynton and Barnstaple railway so we've got to know the area well and it helps to raise funds for the railway. I see they are expanding at Black Moor Gate with a station and visitor centre etc. Some controversial plans locally, I hope Parracombe isn't affected.

If you've got the good weather today enjoy it! smile

I suspect, Easy, it’s as has happened to me. People have said they’ve reported me but I’ve not heard anything further. There can only be two conclusions - either the people who say they’ve reported me aren’t telling the truth, or the CM uses her judgement and only follows up the appropriate reports as opposed to the ‘I’m telling Miss about you’ type. I suspect the latter is the case.

EasyT, I don't mind people openly saying what they think on the forum, even if it is to condemn my lifestyle. That's their opinion and I accept it as such. Expressing such an opinion does me no harm.

What I do object to is when people go behind my back and report me to the CM, to the extent that I get an email from the CM, threatening to ban me and thereby deny me access to other areas of the clubs website; so that not only am I forbidden from talking to friends on here but I'm forbidden to use any of the clubs facilities, such as online bookings etc. That is where I drew the line and opted out of the forum.

Malcolm, just about every form of public social media use reporting systems. This prevents abuses. People running blogs can moderate responses. We are asked not to discuss forum management decisions on here and the route for any objections is via the Community Manager. As far as I am concerned this thread is a social one, its called "what are you all up to" and it's for daily social chat, nothing more. You can raise other discussions and topics elsewhere.

Can we return to the subject of the thread now? I hope so.

Well yes, R2B. I liked this forum too but I preferred it when it was all inclusive so IanH and Tigerfish felt it worth their while to express themselves on here. They are both unhappy with the more restrictive dumbed down processes that are going on and it has put them off posting on here, which saddens me, as I used to enjoy reading their comments. They seemed to me, to be both nice, well-meaning people, with interesting things to say and a sense of humour but sadly, they've both gone from here.

Yes but other posters on here were interested to hear from me and were concerned about my absence. So it was necessary that I should make some response, so that what actually happened, can be understood by those who were questioning it.

Lovely day in East Norfolk so will return to pottering in the garden.  Got to put up a new washing line today. Might even get a paddle in the sea.🌊🌞

Mrs One had a great weekend camp and apart from a little rain on Saturday night they had fantastic weather.  Went out for dinner last night at our new Weatherspoons pub, quite impressed with staff, food and value for money.

Nice way of looking at it, R2B, provided it doesn't go to the extreme of threatening you with a ban, as it did in my case! I take it that you weren't threatened with a 3 month ban or were you?

Ok EasyT, let's look at it from another perspective, this is about giving others space to chat and not dominating a social area with complaints about others and about the way the site is managed. Continually complaining about contributors, whether they've used the report function or not, whether they are "on side" or not. I am finding it divisive to say the least.

However, there is nothing I can do about it except hope that this social area is used for the friendly purpose intended, it has, on most counts been successful. I will be sad to see it go any other way.

I'm off now, I'll leave you to it. smile

No, I'm away also Brue. Just stopped to post a new topic now off to do a bit of gardening. Did non yesterday as my spine and hips ached and it was damned hot. The aches were probably due to heavy pruning etc the day before when I was feeling great! smile

Complaints about others and about the way the site is managed are not common on this thread.

Of course, Alan, there are a small number of posters too ready to take umbrage at friendly dogs or gentle teasing whether or not smileys are used. Then complain about the forum lacking humour! I think very few set out deliberately to cause offence, at least I would hope not.

There may be reporting on other forums but there, being reported doesn't stop someone booking their holidays or in MMs case living his lifestyle, if what is said about being blocked is true? I wondered why MM took the decision not to post but now I understand, so draconian. With the main topics of controversy being blocked, religion and politics, why would anyone feel the need to report someone, unless being sworn at or abuse being hurled. We are not 8 years old - I'm telling on you. If someone upsets me I will tell them so, or ignore them. If you think MM posts too much or you don't like his posts, Don't Read Them! But he has always posted and sadly, even when he thought he couldn't post, he was still reading the posts. And talking of being nasty MM has taken some flak about his life style in the past. However, I don't think MM is without blame, trying to be helpful MM and not wishing to offend but sometimes you even answer you own questions without waiting for others to reply. Please accept that we really don't want your lifestyle, otherwise we would do it, so please stop telling us it is best, it is Your choice. Also we don't need so much personal info, such as knowing how much you earn. However, I would like to hear how your camp site is, what the neighbours are like, you must get plenty of them, how your wife is and your days out. Please, all read Rocky2Buckets post under Grandchildren and the spider, such a lovely post and how we should all strive to live and be. I've said my bit now I will shut up.

FWIW, MM I like reading your post. As I have said previously, I may not have always agreed with you and have openly said that to you. But to reiterate what others have said, I have never seen any of your post that I considered needing reporting.

Good to see you back on here anyway. cool

Like I've said before, the best way to achieve that, brue, is to stop pressing the report button. If you stop doing that, then the draconian reactions will stop too and the forum will become a friendlier and less stressful place for people to post on. Having to receive reports and complaints has clearly upset the CM and we have all seen the consequences of that!

A few biodiversity engineers, that we meet on our walk yesterday. Long horns are released to graze in many areas of Sherwood Forest / Clumber to better manage the habitat. They are very placid animals, as long as you don't approach to close. Although could do some serious damage with those horns. This makes it all the more surprising how many folk we have seen with hounds off of leads in these enclosures. There is clear signage on all the entry points. It's even more of an issue in our local forest, where because of the density of vegetation, we have occasionally found ourself in the middle of them without even realising it. Hopefully no one will end up seriously hurt.

Steve I would be really cautious in going in their field particularly if there were young calves in with them.  I’m sure some dog owners are dyslexic.
