Do we need breathalizers?

It won't really matter to us as we're not going this year, but there has been a lot of talk about whether or not the French government are going to insist on all drivers carring a breathalizer of some description in the car.

I think it might still be being discussed.  Someone said they thought it was unlikely to go through as it's election year. ;))

Just wondered if anyone has any more information?

Local police were stopping all cars near to us in February when we were in France.

     (Just after lunch!)

They had their own reusable ones.

We do have 2, I think they're 2 years of of date!

I cannot really see the logic of carrying them unless it is physiological.

Whilst its a very old re-instated post some members will be reading it again in June 2018 and for decades to come with interest.

We carry (two) of the cheap disposable breath kits in the glovebox ready to passify & satisfy any request.

We decided to just pay the £5 for the two kits.

PS Even got a high vis yellow winter coat for the dog in car !

Yes I carry the disposable type. I think they are out of date now, but still in glove compartment......

Is it possible for moderators to close these 'resurrected' threads?  This one isn't too bad because the question is still somewhat relevant, but some aren't.
