Europe in July & August?
My wife and I have motorhomed now for 3 years but (primarily due to family commitments and sick pets) have not yet been able to get across the Channel. We now have a decent window, last two weeks in July, then August and September. We would like to get some sun.
So my questions are; where to avoid at that time of year? Should we book sites in advance?
We'll use the tunnel to get to france, but not sure after that. We have joined France Passion. Because we are plated at 3850kg both Switzerland and Austria look difficult due to their emissions requirements.
Thanks in advance.

Beachfront campsites will be busy until the last week of August, but even there a phone call the previous evening may well get you in.
Inland campsites are not usually a problem if you arrive by 4 pm. but as in the UK there are honeypots to which the crowds flock.
Motorhome Aires are in almost every town and village and are first come, first served.
Take a phone, maps and good guides and go for it !

Sound advice from ET as usual. If you want sun then the logical choice is Spain. Its cheaper than France and the peak season ends shortly after mid August and certainly thereafter on the larger sites you should not have a problem getting a pitch even on beach sites.

If you are away in September then it is worth joining ACSI. No need to book anything but very popular sites in prime locations can be full end July/beginning August particularly on the Med.
