Speed on sites

OK, the limit is 5 MPH. I think I can say without question I have never seen ANYONE observe that 10-12 is realistic in the real world, and before you question what I have said be honest with yourself
I have been driving long enough (Trucks & Buses) to know what is safe and suitable for the conditions and environment.

I can manage it in a Discovery automatic with the van on the back.

That's the excuse of most "speeders"

Really ?, 5 mph whenever you move on site towing or solo
Don't get me wrong, I'm also very aware of the speed I travel at on site but you'll never convince me ANYONE sticks to a max of 5 mph

Really over 99% of the time at 4mph as that is our speed without throttle. I admit that on occasion on sections of a site road without any caravans and open view I might rest my foot on the throttle and do 7mph but that is very unusual whether a CC site or other.
A driver spending time watching the speedo is not watching where he or she is going.
I have no need to watch the speedo. Why would I on tick over?

If you know your vehicle why would you need to keep looking at the Speedo?on our manual car first was 4.5mph according to Sat nav and with our latest auto useing the sport mode in first its exactly 5mph on the Sat nav wthout touching go faster pedal

2 members have pretty much said they know best and will drive at a speed they think is safe, does this apply in 20mph, 30mph, 40mph zones on the road as well. How do you know if the speed limit on club sites is just “arbitrary” or is part of the H&S plan.
Just because you believe nobody has been injured or killed through speed on club does not sites give you the right to set your own speed limits. If you think its wrong why don’t you write to the club to try and get it changed instead of just doing what ever you want
As for the comment I haven’t seen anybody sticking to the 5mph limit, you obviously haven’t been on the same sites as me as I do, 1st gear on tick over gives me 4/5 on the clock, oh and no need to keep looking at it as it’s always the same funnily enough, with a bit of braking down hill.

As a warden, if any of the site team are told about indiscretions by guests on site then it is our responsibility to speak to them. We take this seriously and we will 100% speak to them or go to their outfits as we did today. One speeder and kids playing cricket advised of the way forward!
However, very few people on site approach us and it is impossible for us to be Omni present.
Believe me, EGH is very much aware of the situation!

Glad to hear of your actions, Mark.
Sadly people don’t seem to tell you but choose to whinge on here instead, or write inappropriate site reviews.

As our friends always have said the majority of "negative" comments are normally put in the site comments book,or via a complaint to EGH,or on public forums like this, always after the event ,and normally trying to put the onus on site site staff, when it could have been "sorted"if the "real"facts were communicated at the time

Because it's an admission that you were not actively watching you speed.
You say that you don't need to divert attention regularly to speedo as you recommend simply driving with due care and consideration.
In my case it would be pointless my looking at my speedo as it is far too inaccurate apart from being difficult to interpret at low speed and badly placed moreover. I have checked my satnav often enough to know that it will not show other than 4mph on tickover other than possibly on a severe slope such as within the CC site near Leek. My satnav is also better positioned to view than the speedo.
As for driving with 'due care and consideration' I don't doubt the care bit of the reference with regard to your onsite driving ................... I will refrain from comment with regard to consideration however.

of course we think about hitting a pedestrian but travelling above 5mph increase the chances of hitting another car and causing injuries?
Sadly just noticed this here hope he makes a full recovery.
The faster you go, the longer it will take to stop, the greater the risk, why do it?
