Advice on touring Lake Constance with twin wheel c

We are taking our caravan (7.9 meters) to Lake Constance and wondered if anyone had any advice as to places to avoid due to roads being unsuitable for large caravans.  Any other advice as to special places to visit or avoid would be greatly appreciated.

Should`nt be any problem the main road running along the northern side of the lake is used by all vehicles and is away from the lakeside itself. Its a quite a long time since we were their to stay so can`t help with sites.

Meersburg and Lindau are the prettiest of the larger places and Friedshafen is mostly known for its Zepplin Museum. A car ferry runs from Meersburg to Constance itself. The lake is a draw for cyclists as there is a path which I believe goes all the way round and many do it in stages as a holiday.

Having been there a couple of years ago you will be hard pressed to find a site for a twin axle, a site you could try are Gern camping at Salem, pitches tend to be quite small.

The lake borders Germany and Switzerland. If you choose to go to the swiss side you will need a Vignette to use their motorways and if towing you will also need one for the caravan as well. You will be much better staying on the German side to save on this tax. We were there in 1998 and found sites on the shores are very busy and cramped so with a twin axle it may be difficult. Try inland away from the busier areas. Look at Gutshof Camping at Laimnau about 6 miles from the lake. Not cheap in peak season though.

Two good days out. Santis mountain in the St. Gallen region of Switzerland. Panoramic views from the top, interesting cable car ride and stunning countryside. Also Neuschwnastein Castle near Fussen in Germany. A bit of a drive but a fairy tale castle. Very busy though
