Drone on and on and on!!
we have just stayed at Knaresborough caravan site and written a review. We noticed a drone taking off from outside reception and then flew all over the site before landing back in car park. With the increase in drone sales it maybe worth a mention that flying so close to the public is illegal and the caravan club should not encourage this in any way.
The injury to people or property? Would the caravan club pay for my damage if they allowed the person to film from above???

Not sure about the 5mph but it should in no way be flying over people or a caravan site. The person next to me was going to complain on leaving as he thought his privacy was being compromised.

The wardens should be the immediate first port of call and then report to head office if necessary. No one can do anything if they aren’t made aware.

Taken from the drone flight code
3. Don’t fly over people.
While you might think a popular beach might be a great place to capture a stunning view with your new drone, flights over people are not permitted. This can include over a group of people or even a single person not part of the associated flight crew. Practice good judgment and make sure to stay away from stadiums, public events, and community events where large groups of people may congregate.1 -

I think you will find the Club know all about it! There is drone footage of Knaresborough Site and area on website page. I am sure the Club will have followed all the recommended guidance for such. Given the number of CCTV cameras, drones, photographic equipment likely to be encountered on a daily basis, it's a tiny drop in the ocean.

Perhaps it was the site staff checking to see how many empty pitches were left.--- If it took off from just outside the reception, that could be the most reasonable explanation. A new tool in the site staff's inventory since the upgrade. .

- Whilst i unerstand the 50m rule which was clearly broken, i was trying to get the point across at how dangerous it is in an area like a campsite. To put a more serious spin on it the amount of children we saw when we stayed could have easily been hit. so have put a picture up of what can happen when drones contact kids .

I think if the target practice includes you & a firearm a jail sentence could follow☹️

On a French site we came across the Club doing a drone and conventional camera "shoot" for use in selected sites literature.
We were advised by the photographer it was intended to be done the next morning, early when the lighting was better for that purpose.
I expect that should we have had any hang up from perceived danger or loss of our privacy then a purpose of that evening's chat would have been our chance to object?
I was more technically interested than concerned, but then the lady I was camping with was my own wife.

Hello, I have a strange aversion to drones and queried their use on site with the club some months ago and have a reply confirming that all wardens are aware that they are banned on site. It is covered by the rule about consideration for other members on site. End of!

Hadn’t thought of that! However at least I can produce my copy of the email if any visitor should launch one on site.

Maybe checking for the phantom dog being allowed to roam off the lead to do their business on somebody else’s pitch🙄😂
