We are also travelling there in the next few weeks and have chosen Camping International at Castellane on someone’s  recommendation.

There are two sites at Les Salles sur Verdon on the east side of the Lac de Ste Croix which might suit you if you want to combine lake+ village  - and as you are early in the year I would  go and look and choose. But if your Motorhome is large  then be aware that the roads in that area are not terribly friendly.

You can do a circular tour of the gorge from Les Salles sur Verdon to Castellane and then back again on the other side of the gorge. There are some spectacular views. If you are a bit of a timid driver it is suggested that you do the tour ant-clockwise as, doing it clockwise (which gives better views) you are close to the edge of the gorge in many places although the vast majority has barriers along it.

We stayed at Camping la Source 10 years ago which was OK but is on a hillside and with metered electric. I think there is a bigger site next door (Les Pins?)

I don't recall any part of the roads being too small for a MH but it is 10 years ago and we've been to lots more similar places since so the memry of which road is which tends to get a bit blurred. I seem to remember both MHs and HGVs on the northern side, (the 'main' road to Castellane). The south side is a bit more twisty but with lots of view points as it's a tourist route along the Corniche Sublime.
