I just get the impression that some stockists are more privilege than others!! I'm guessing, but perhaps the calorlite supply are going out to the larger caravan retailers. I imagine calorlite is mainly used by caravanners - I bet the small 'general purpose' supplier doesnt get a look in??

Whilst I can see the advantages of a safefill type bottle (especially abroad) I agree with ET that it doesn't stack up financially for many people.

So what is the situation now with these Calor Lite bottles.
I have just spoken to the owner of a local caravan site 1 mile from my home about exchanging a Calor lite for a 6kg steel bottle. Reply, "Why are you going back to steel, we have stocks of Calor Lite".
I just been and changed like for like and in the compound they had 6 bottles of Calor Lite. Apparently the rep said if you want some to order some. She didn't ask questions
Anybody heard any other stories, it all sounds a bit vague.

We have just returned from Cheltenham Racecourse Site, while we were there I purchased a Calorlite bottle from the Club Shop as they had an offer on for £50, I returned home and remembered that I never received a receipt, I have called the Caravan Club and requested a receipt as if Calor bring out a new Lite Bottle I will need it to swap over Im told. Im shockled that it would seem I've not purchased this from the club but the wardens?

If you have purchased a new Calor Lite without exchanging another cylinder the seller should have filled in a hire agreement and given you a copy. As JVB66 says you need to speak to the site, I am sure they will be able to put one in the post for you.

I've just exchanged a Calorlite at Sharman's in Ipswich. They have several. Apparently Calor have reintroduced them temporarily because they can't get enough of the old ones. £27:50 not cheap!!

And how much to purchase the kit? The amount of gas I use in the UK it would take 20+ years to pay back. I guess the majority of folk who only van here would be in the same boat.

Yes one bottle usually lasts me well over a year, 18 months has certainly been done and with year round use too.

Agree when we had a caravan, our usage was minimal. However, now with a MH it’s surprising how much the large fridge freezer gobbles if we stop on route. Depending on how long we carry on MH ing we may or may not just about cover the cost of installation. The big plus for me though is that I do not need to carry bottles, even the light, just connect a hose.

We have been out on tour since 29th June and have on board a full 6kg calor lite which has yet to have the valve opened
And we have cooked in and outside the c/van every day except for one pub meal and fish and chips from the chippy van at this site

Current price of Gaslow's 11kgm single cylinder kit is £190, you don't ned too many refills at £40 saving per time to cover the cost.
OC, What is the object of having the cylinders certified at 10 years old, what are the risks of not doing so? Mine are in the 10th year of use and I have certainly had my monies worth from winters in Spain and off grid use. Last gas check I had there were no problems.
I can see it could well apply to exchange cylinders which lead a rougher life but fixed tanks?

I used 21Kg of gas during a months tour of Scotland. At Calor prices that equates to almost £100. Even before I went non EHU with the kit I have installed on the Moho, there was still a fair saving over Calor prices. I bought my refillable in 2017 and I'm already in profit on the gas alone, let alone the savings on site fees.
