From another forum I've received information about ADAC membership changes from 01/08/2018.

https://www. adac. de/_mmm/pdf/Anpassungen_ADAC_Leistungsordnung_2018_317929. pdf

I've quickly 'translated' the document using Google translate, and it would appear that there are several changes to the regulations which may affect us in the UK (after the B word).  The most important of these is the first one which is:  The ADAC Plus membership remains when moving to a country in the EU/EEA.

I suppose in our case we could change our membership address to our French house and continue membership, paying with our French bank account, but I wonder what others make of the document. wink

I have asked someone with contacts at ADAC if it's possible to confirm just what this will mean for UK members.

It seems pretty clear to me after reading the changes to their terms and conditions that ADAC membership for UK members will terminate if the UK leaves the EU unless, at the same time, the UK rejoins EFTA to which the UK once belonged before EU membership.

I am not sure if I am dreaming this up but I am sure I read somewhere that ADAC thought they were obliged to offer membership to people living in other EU countries. They then discovered this was not a requirement and started to rethink where they would take members from. This move seems to have started before the referendum? Either way they would seem to be well within their rights not to offer membership once we leave the EU.

Only last night I spent a long time trawling through their website with the thought of joining after trying to save pennies on Red Pennant for our coming trip. I found all the the blurb on there very heavy going.

I wished I'd waited a further twelve hours for this post.

    Will stick with Red Pennant

My contact  has just informed me that all existing UK members will continue to be able to access ADAC services, but basically that the newsletter 'Motorwelt' will only be available to us on line, rather than posted out as it currently is.  So no changes, really, and on line you can read an instant translation!
