To speed or not to speed

Ah you see Stover has nice fairly new smooth roadways, very easy to get a good lap time. My place, after last winter has some strategically placed potholes which does inhibit a good pace, I have to engage 4wd on the tractor to maintain pole. We all go to see the warden at Stover because he used to be a race car mechanic and knows how to get the best out of a tractor. Wait 'til the end of season Kubota grand prix, at a site near you

Good to see children enjoying themselves. At least they are in the great outdoors rather than having their nose in a computer. Is it about time we banned adults from campsites

Do you never get your facts right?
Teacher - me? That’s the best one I’ve heard today, MM.

this, applied to club sites, might be the answer?

No I wouldn't volunteer

nice post, David, and in essence you're absolutely right....
..but 'being (playing) outdoors' at a campsite (any campsite) shouldn't mean trying to nudge DD off pole position....
the site roads will have a mix of traffic and keeping speed down helps keep everyone safe, but the primary playing area shouldn't be the site roads (or the entrance area) and the primary pastime shouldn't be trying to become the next Carl Fogarty.
it's difficult to provide activity areas for kids of all ages, but small slides won't be very appealing to older children who like to let off a bit more steam.....and they'll have much more energy than mum and dad to spare, even (especially) if they've been out for the day...
on the places we've seen them, hardcourt ball areas seem to be just the thing for kids to have half an hour's footie, before dinner, with their newly acquired friends....kids get together and mix up for teams in a flash and off they go..
can be football, basketball or whatever, but the main thing is that it's not all over the site roads...no bikes, nor balls....
...however, Kids need to be drawn towards a facility (not pushed) so it needs to be something decent...a muddy patch of grass on a slope probably won't cut it....
yes we used to manage years ago.....but standards have risen a bit, haven't they?
perhaps the site roads are the most appealing 'outdoor' spaces on sites?

well done. Seriously, there is no need for speeding ever

yes, as you said, you can go off some people, you know.....
still, ill be on the outside grill, soon.....maybe some cabuillaud with salad and a baguette on the side
....and I thought all you racing drivers were highly tuned athletes?
...at least in the days of The Superstars, the drivers all put up a really good performances....
however, to remain on topic.....ill try and eat it slowly......

Are cycles going against the traffic flow 'really' that much of an issue? Of all the sites I've driven round, I can't think of one where encountering a bike coming the other way is going to faze me. Perhaps if people do more than the statutory 5mph it then becomes an issue.

You will never be able to legislate for stupidity/ childish irresponsibility.

+1, it’s down to the responsible adults driving the killing machines to take the optimum care when moving around children👍🏻

I couldn’t comment ET as I’ve never heard nor read of such deaths. I would never need to know of such deaths to ensure I drove safely in Child heavy areas. As they say-‘funnel vision not tunnel vision’👍🏻

It’s the responsibility of the driver to take all possible avoiding action in an effort not to hit any person whether it be a child or adult, supervised or otherwise.
Metal always gives way to flesh and bone irrespective of technical rights and wrongs.
