Ferry Booking - Hull-Rotterdam

Just wanted to give some praise to the CMC Overseas Team today.   Need to travel solo to visit my son and daughter-in-law who have just produced our first grandchild and live in Bielefeld, Germany.   Had priced the trip up on P&O, but then realised that I could book through CMC so went online to get a quote from them.   Great price offered saving us around £50.   Bad news - the website didn't work so couldn't make the booking.    This morning, telephoned the club and made the booking over the phone, the advisor was really helpful, including being bright and chirpy first thing.   The price of the trip and the food options is very competitive so if you haven't tried booking with CMC, give it a try.    We also managed to get an upgraded cabin which was great as it meant neither of us would have to brave the top bunk (not that we ever do, as we chuck one of the mattresses on the floor!)

Really impressed and recommended

Congratulations on your first grandson, how exciting! Glad you've  got a crossing sorted, safe travels. Remember you can't ever over spoil a grandchild  😉. Our grandchildren live in NZ but Skype or similar is great, we even play hide and seek 😂😂😂.

Congratulations on the birth of your first grandchild.

I remember going out to Bielefeld to see our eldest son and his family, we stayed in the campsite there and they Gkids came and stayed with us in the caravan over night while Mum & Dad went to the Summer Ball.

For future info, if going our to Germany you can make a ferry booking through Forces Travel. We always check their prices they usually come out better than C&MC on the Hull to Rotterdam/Zeebrugge crossing.

In fact we go out next Wednesday to Zeebrugge, booked through Forces Travel we saved £26 compared to C&MC and £16 compared to P&O direct. If booking Brittany Ferries we have always found that C&MC come out the best.

I made a big saving over the club this year using ferries direct, so another one to remember.  Thanks for the tip TG, in future i will check Forces Travel out.smile

I checked the forces travel site this morning and they were £30 more expensive for the standard fare than the premium fare that I booked through ferries direct.  I will obviously still use the club, forces and ferry companies for a guide price.  Now off to purchase red pennant, ouchmoney-mouth

We have never purchased a ferry crossing other than through CMC.  Honestly compels me to say that I wouldn't even know how to obtain a booking by any other means.  I guess I am the wrong generation as I have used the club since the 1970's.

Think it might depend on which crossing you're using Op, I've certainly found that FT are the cheapest with Hull, while FD came out the dearest.

However on the Cairnryan to Larne FD came out the best. C&MC were the best on Brittany Ferries.

Harryb, the club told me they would price match with the ferry companies but were unable to do so with Forces Travel, I'm still bewildered why the club were more expensive than P&O direct though.
