Insidious Development

That's great to know Janet. Big thumbs up, our friends were very impressed with their stay in one of the glamping pods, so much so, family put together to buy them more time away in one later in the year. I am seriously considering one for a short break with my sister, but wasn't sure when the new development at Coniston Park was due to open. I will now keep a check out for updates. Great to hear things direct from those very much in the know, I think they are a great asset and give more choice. Not sure if my OH would be happy sleeping in MH with dogs while I lived it up in a pod, but I might just have to bend his arm a little.......

Oh ET, that is so funny. Rest assured, they don't explode, might hop about a bit if boiled too long, and if you left them in tin, your whole van might go bang! You can get dedicated microwave pans, with lids, failing that, a none metal bowl with cling film (pierced) works just as well!

It’s great to get some staff input, Janet. Thanks for that. We'll cancel the campers' kitchen then.
Perhaps you can get Ro to fix you up with a Staff banner on your avatar. 👍🏻

That's three times more than us! We haven't owned one for last ten years. Takes up too much room in kitchen, and our 33 year old caravan only has a double ring and grill!
They are great for some things, but we don't miss one.

Some very distorted views on this forum. Where did the idea that Caravan and Motorhome users have some sort of aversion to each other come from? People don’t communicate much on Club sites anyway, they spend most of their time watching TV. Of course, Motorhome users dont fill up aquarolls and empty waste at the same points so perhaps that accounts for the lack of communication?
Getting back to the topic, the Club are copying what many sites in Europe are doing. It is popular and brings in money. Pity that it reduces the space for touring pitches but then you can’t tour in the UK in mid or high season without booking in advance.

yes, ET, we use an old plastic take-away container with it's top placed lightly on top. Give it a go!

Well I guess that's it then.Women discuss the kitchen sink,Men take their teeth out and go to sleep. The power's that be,not the "touring fraternity"make the decisions. There we have it,like it and lump it. Fait accompli.Nothing unusual there then.

I'd take more water with your bitterness pills Stano. There's plenty of room and pitches still left on the network, just chill out, enjoy

but the good news is, you don't have to use club sites
you tell Sainsburys which products to stock too?

Ahh.......but..........
You're right, you don't have to use club sites, or shop at Sainsbury, but if I'd paid to be a member I might feel that I had a right to express an opinion on what was in the stores.....?....(I'm sure the shareholders do....)
Whilst TDA is right, Stano's most recent post is a bit of a rant, his OP has received 21 "likes" so far, the most I can ever remember seeing for a post, which indicates to me that many people share at least some of the concern he raises.......

On the face of it no.......
But then it's the same old small handful of people on here.....
If that proportion of people is the same across the wider membership, that's an awful lot of unhappy people......
Edit - snap ET !!

Ahh... but
When you join, of your own free will I take it, and become a member what rights do you have as a member? I really don't know actually. But probably none, or at best very little? What rights does a shareholder have in a company anyway? Are we shareholders?
Yes they can express their opinion of course and the same for on here, but that's not what I was responding to Stano about, he said (and my bold):
The power's that be,not the "touring fraternity"make the decisions. There we have it,like it and lump it.
It would be impractical that all the members of the club could vote on every matter? Or indeed many would not be bothered. So what happens? I think you can vote on who is elected to sit on various groups that make those decisions, a bit like general elections here but that's about it. If Stano and all those 21 actually write in to the club and your elected representatives then that could make a difference.
the best vote of course is empty pitches and or empty pods.

There are very few sites with alternative accommodation and there is some productive income space at Coniston, it's also providing an all year round place to stay. A lot of sites are closed in the winter so the opportunity to try other accommodation across the network is in a limited number of places.

Static caravans equals troublesome people. We will not under any circumstances stay on a site that has static caravans. A lot of club members find it acceptable to to pitch up with their mates and have a drunken night of noise for two weeks, static caravans make it even worse.
Drunken louts every night. Lovely. Oh well, at least it will earn the club money at the expense of those that have paid into it for many years.
