Overnight stops in Northern Spain
We are travelling to the French Pyrenees at the end of August via the ferry to Santander. Does anyone have any suggestions for an overnight stop near to the motorway between Bilbao and San Sebastian that we can book? We have e-mailed several sites but they won't book for stays of less than a week. Any information would be appreciated.
Many thanks Jackie and David.

An hour from Santander is Camping Molino de Cabuerniga. The Club will book you a first few days there on arrival if you wish. It looks attractive but may be too far if your ferry arrives late.
Camping Sopelana is the nearest campsite to Bilbao. It doesn't get very good reviews but nevertheless people do stay there if they want to go into the city to see the Guggenheim museum. Do you want to do that ?
As you say you are aiming for the Pyrenees bear in mind that the Spanish side of the mountains has much to offer. So for me it would be inland from Bilbao to Camping Ibaia at Vitoria Gasteiz, then a look at Pamplona, and then on to the spectacular Ordesa National Park in the heart of the mountains.
But other options are allowed ! Take care.

Between Bilbao and San Sebastian we normally use Camping Zarautz,. It is not far from the motorway and close to san Sebastian.Don't know how busy it will be at hr end of August. It is in the ACSI book.
