New Booking System
Does the new booking system allow booking 12 months in advance or 12 months and 1 week in advance.
The site i have been looking to book is now full for Easter 2019 a week before booking should be available.
Can the club please specify the exact amount of time i need to pre book my next years holidays.
We have now missed 1 holiday for next year so a lot more clarity on the release dates for next years sites would be apreciated

I've tried to book April site I wanted is not showing availability calender for April.
Also what if you want to book dates that span end of one month beginning of another - which we always do late July early august.
On timings the club needs to be more precise- the e-mail says it will release dates for next year early in same month of previous year.... but what time and what day matters. Is it 1st of the month at 9.00am? As some sites will be booked up in 30 minutes on key dates.
Anyone know what time on April 11 the system opened for bookings?

Thanks Brue... but what it doesn't say is when bookings each month will be released- for example 1st of each month at 8.45 am. It just says around beginning of each month. Perhaps the club could provide more info so we don't waste time checking the site until bookings are available.

WHY IS THIS QUESTION SO DIFFICULT FOR THE CLUB TO ANSWER!!!
At what date each month will the the following years sites be available to book.
I am far too busy to be checking the club website daily to see when dates are to be released for the following year.

Humphrey, this Booking System is new to the Club as well as us Members, so it may well take a couple of months for it all to come clear. It is possibly due to the fact that both April & May have Bank Holidays in them, ( Easter, Spring Bank & t'other one ) which may well confuse the issue this year, but might well have sorted themselves out by, say, late June this year ??

Surely you mean that you've been unable to book a club site of your choosing, not that you have been stopped from booking a holiday at that time. There must be a fair number of other sites in the area you want to visit that you could book, be they commercial ones or CLs etc.

That's the system, book a holiday every month in advance at no cost and delete what you don't want 72 hrs before you go, i wonder if a commercial site would survive under those conditions.

so two questions:
What is the difference a club site and a 'commercial' site?
How does the not only survive but thrive? (full sites maybe?)
1 -
1 ..there is no difference
2 ..higher price's and the twelve month booking only just started and by full site's is that Baltic wharf, chatsworth and rowntree😜

1. well it was you that wrote:
i wonder if a commercial site would survive under those conditions.
now you're saying there is no difference? so what was your point?
2. The club is middle of the road in terms of prices and the club or any site can charge whatever price it likes, that's the easy bit, the hard bit is to actually get people to pay them. There are lots more sites full than the three you mention,
But again I can't understand your first post: That's the system, book a holiday every month in advance at no cost and delete what you don't want 72 hrs before you go, i wonder if a commercial site would survive under those conditions.
The club does not have access to magic money to keep it afloat. I ask you how does the club survive and thrive?

Not exactly magic CS, but there is the membership fee, a not insignificant sum. Which must go a long way to covering overheads. Independent commercials won't have anything like that. Although those such as Haven can clearly cross subsidise from other aspects of the business.

Just did an availability search on the Booking page for today. 203 sites, including associated sites with availability.
Baltic Wharf, Chatsworth and York Rowntree have pitches available.
Hardly full.
150 sites this coming weekend, supposed to be decent weather at last, are showing availability of pitches.
Perhaps its families using the pitches at weekends supporting the club?
We are taking a pitch for the weekend
Just saying...

How do you find all that availability mid week without checking every site? is there a quick way?
Schools back so this and next w/ends are normally "quiet" apart from us "oldies" wanting "quiet",then big rush (weather permitting) for May day w/end apart for Devon/Cornwall which normally have plenty of pitches out of main school holiday peaks

Set the parameters in the search boxes.
Set the date range with what you wish to look at, then choose 'all regions', 'all counties' and 'all sites'.
It then gives results as a total number with option to display by '10 per page', or 'see all' .
A useful tool.
We do the weekend closest to MrsPs birthday camping, ie this one. Normally popular. Keep checking if a cancellation on a full service pitch, but its still 30 minutes til the 72 hour cut off!!!

but the membership fee is just part of the club's business model, it is open to all other site operators and anyone could adopt it should they wish.
And of course you don't have to join the club and pay this fee but for whatever reasons a lot of people do.
Also without being a member you would pay extra to stay on a club site. I don't have the figures to hand what the break even point is but from memory stay a few times on a club site and you will have paid for the membership fee. The club could aboslish it's membership fee but you would end up paying more over the long run.
But as always, no one if forced to join or go to a club site. The way people complain on here you might be tempted to think that though?
Post edit I know this is marketing speak but:
Members save £140 per year on site pitch fees when staying on Club sites
Save 50% on Club site pitch fees for each night’s stay0 -
well what are all these post and threads going on about when they say they can't get pitches?

Good grief - some people are never happy. It seems to me that some members think that if you can't book a pitch on an exact date and specific site then the booking system doesn't work (for them).
I tend to think that the new booking system is a good idea and prevents the annual bun fight in December and allows members more freedom to book when they want.
The popular sites will always get booked up in advance - that is why they are popular. There must be pitches available at some point as they are fully booked (apparently).
If place are unavailable - try somewhere else as you do with hotels, restaurants, barbers etc etc.

I agree, especially with your first paragraph, it appears that no matter what the system is, book early is the key.

"…...if you can't book a pitch on an exact date and specific site then the booking system doesn't work (for them)."
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there, DJ. We see so many instances of people wanting things changed, of complaints and moans that the club has got it wrong on so many levels including bookings, sites, rules and T&Cs.
What they mean is that something doesn’t work for them and, rather than accepting it and finding a work around, they demand change to suit their particular needs, irrespective of things working for the vast majority. For some reason taking responsibility for ones own circumstances, actions and decisions seems to be a thing of the past in many cases.

Good post TW.
In my opinion this forum does little to promote our pastime, So much negativity on nearly every thread, it gets very boring, but then don't you find that threads of a positive nature disappear very quickly? I'm just glad that real life on site is very different and people actually seem to enjoy life

True JK, Very true -- but the negativity serves to drive me away from the keyboard except for making more bookings !
I've never been forced to waste time at home when I've wanted to be away -- if one site I know is full I can always find a new one to sample. Right now I'm preparing for a few weeks in the Cornish High Water Areas -- next week cannot come too soon

Thanks, JK.
I think we all appreciate that real life on site bears little resemblance to that depicted here.

And a good post from you too.
Yes it seems all that some posters on here do on here is complain about the club's... well anything to do with the club, prices, booking, rules... Or how the club should 'move forward' with various suggestions and ignore the fact that the club runs a very good set of sites with high occupancy rates and have done so for years, with demand outstripping supply year on year
If these posters had any experience of running a successful caravan/MH site I might pay more attention but like TW says they just want change to suit their own interest IMHO.
