As my account is a throwaway Email address with no personal details, no.

Only used for messenger, and more information is given on here I would think. Not worried about it.

Why would you? I put the minimum of personal information on my Facebook Page and that can only be seen by people who are "friends". Although I am not so keen on Facebook as a vehicle for hobby related groups I think we have to accept that they are increasingly popular, usually at the expense of more traditional type forums. As someone who has seen the transition from Usenet to e-mail groups to proper forums and now to Facebook you do wonder what will be next!

Well Kennine, what have you decided to do? I will be doing nothing as nothing is required.

PS how do you define a throw away email address?

One that is generated by a website like 'ThrowAwayMail.com' that lasts for 50 minutes, enough time to set up an account.

We're all being tracked across every form of on line media. The problem is when our details are shared with unknown sources. laughing

    As per Donald Rumsfeld

Never had one. Cant understand why someone wants all and sundry to know what they are doing or who they are. Stupid to  let crooks know your on holiday and house empty etc.  Its bad enough that your data is being harvested by organisations without allowing some get rich firm to sell it, serves them right.  Why does CC need to have a facebook page when they have their own site. How sure are those hooked to it that the club has also not sold their data!!

I have a Facebook account, with only my name visible. I can keep up to date with our Australian cousins and their extended family, old college friends (and wonder where I went wrong when I'm not gadding all over the world like some of them), etc.

I also belong to some closed groups re local history and genealogy. The one re our nearest town is very active with discussions and photographs from way back when.

I follow singers/bands that I am interested in (and find out about upcoming gigs - booked on yesterday that I wouldn't have heard about yet).

Plus I am a member of a couple of closed "fan forums".

If anyone want to follow me, they have to ask.

I have a FB account, and keep my privacy settings to only my friends, and info that is there is fictitious anyway. I only have friends that I trust, and use it mainly for information forums.  I never put information of when i'm away etc as that's my business, and "Careless talk cost lives" come to mind.

The government and whoever wants to now about you don't need facebook or other media to do it. Everything you do is now computer based, pension, driving license, passport, bank accounts.

I don't need or like Facebook, it was so easy to permanently remove the account and the application from my Laptop and PC.

You can't remove anything from the web, whatever you use it for it remains somewhere.

But you have only removed the Application from your devices. Anything previously submitted still exists.

I tried to edit this post, but the site threw a wobbler.

    I meant to add -

Am I worried? Am I going to delete my account? No.

Please don't believe that deleting your account at Facebook actually removes your information. It just means that YOU cannot access it. It is still there, as well as all the information that Facebook has gathered on you that you did not know about.  It can be accessed by others, such as hackers, and Facebook themselves for whatever purpose they want.

Don't have a Facebook account?  That has not stopped them gathering information on you.

    The dye is cast!!

Yet still you have fill in the same old information every time. Any sort of renewal should only be asking "has anything changed?"

But the Email address does not belong to you or provide a path to you and is live for only 50 minutes, its a website. After that time it gone, dead, into interspace, it has done its job of being a live address and you can receive any verification (from Facebook for instance) on its website for 50 minutes, after which it doesn't exist.

You could say the same about Amazon or any of the large and small businesses on line.  Even if this CMC  site  was hacked, ( Not difficult for a professional hacker)  think about all the information that's held on individual members within the various servers, which could be sold or otherwise exploited surprised---------------------- I have always said that every on-line communication is stored on-line somewhere, that's it.. But it's just a case of looking to the future and getting rid of any useless applications that will never again be required.

I like Skype, to contact and speak face to face with family and friends. Those with Apple products can use Facetime.--  I also use Email when communicating with friends, family and commerce. and  use forums to discuss related hobbies such as Photography, Sailing, Caravanning, ETC. I have no doubt that personal information will be stored somewhere but I don't really bother about that.

Having no need for the Facebook way of life ---- I just made sure that I Deleted User that from my devices and closed my account.

    cool

People must be naive t think that "closed" or whatever they call it stops Facebook and others from accessing your details and selling them on. No wonder Scammers and Hackers are so successful. Dont complain  when it happens to  you. There have ben plenty of warnings about "big brother" and the might of the internet.

As soon as you connect to the internet your information and habits are collected. If you don't want to be hacked, cloned or information shared  get off the internet.

What I dislike about the tracking is it being used to assess your personality type and then assume that you'll be interested in the adverts and worse still  filtered news etc. I have never belonged to FB but have no doubt of it's uses to those running it and most other public web sites too.

Never had one, never will. Facebook was set up by the CIA as an intelligence gathering operation and was fronted by Zuckerberg who is doing exactly what he is very handsomely paid to do. Don’t believe me? Do the research.

I do have a facebook account in the name of Alan T. It holds no personal data beyond an image of my face and uses a throw away e-mail addy that is never used for anything else.

I set it up to view images from a friend's holiday. There are no posts on it and I don't accept friends (even those that are friends). I am a member of one closed group that is old work colleagues but rarely post on there

Did a bit of research on conspiracy theories, came upon this loony guy banging on about off grid, umbilical free and how Calor are trying to take over the world.

Flat earth will be next, so no leveling blocks needed.
