Poor weather
Im currently staying on a great little CL, Mouse Cottage in Nottington, Dorset. It's a smashing little site with great facilities. When I arrived on Monday, I was sited on one of the two hardstandings the other one being occupied also.
I feel so sorry for Emma and Craig, the owners as they have had to cancel all their bookings over Easter. Despite having plastic mesh under the grass and land drains, there has been so much snow and rain that the land is waterlogged.
Lets hope that the weather picks up soon and all our CL owners are able to continue with their bookings.

isn't this 'weather' issue down to fact that we have no fixed date for the Easter Hols?....mid March for a week's vanning.....in the UK?
by all means retain the religious significance of Easter, wherever it falls, but why have an arbitrary weeks holiday to tie in....
yes, have the Bank Holidays and celebrations but how about a fixed (later) five day break detached from this, meaning that folk get away in better weather and we don't have the 'compulsory' holiday in hail, snow, freezing weather and the associated cancellations and impact on suppliers....
just seems bonkers to me to have the working families, some of whom can't change this break, being 'committed' to a weeks touring and the associated weather interruptions......
just a thought and NOT a 'religious' posting...
as it happens, when I was working (pre vanning) I used the two bank holidays to get a 16 day break (with only 8 days holiday allowance used) to go somewhere warm, which seems to cope pretty well with early season 'weather'....

There's no such thing as bad weather- Just not wearing the right clothes.
There is "weather", which in the UK is variable, due to us being an Island .
Vanning in the UK at this time is unpredictable, but great times can be had and scenic locations can be visited even in the foulest of weather. It's all down to having a positive attitude.
If wall to wall sunshine is required at this time of the year, head down to southern Europe or the Canaries.

Some supreme being is currently smiling on our bit of Yorkshire, it's been a rather nice few days here. We had some rain overnight, and expect some later, but nothing much to get worried about at moment. Famous last words of course, I will post photos of snow on Monday!

Yet further west in sunny Cornwall it’s just that - sunny.

Grey, wet and 'orrible down here in de deep south. The prognosis for the next week or so is more of the same overall. It doesn't auger well for an April getaway.

...depends where you're 'getting away' to....

We've had the 3rd sunny day on the trot in Cumbria, with only the odd shower last evening. Sorry to hear of all the rain that those down south are suffering, it's just your time for a change. We too may have snow on Monday though, but following the amount we've been out in over the last couple of months what's due will seem insignificant. Glad we've not out in the van over Easter though.

Oh come on you lot, cheer up, It's all going to start warming & drying up Right Now !!
Well at least I hope so 'cos I'm loading t' van for a few days up there in some strange northern club site at Nunnykirk. The last time I was there, some 11 years ago, I got washed back over to Englethwaite Hall nr Carlisle. Parked on grass with no h/stands the water came over my boots and getting the 'van off the pitch caused ruts big enough for a canoeing competition. At least the reservoir should be full !!

It might just be an idea to give the wardens at Nunnykirk a call before setting off, as they've had more snow up that way today, ABM, and they've already had to move some of the seasonals onto "higher" ground.

I'll be doing that on Monday Nell, Then it'll be a shortened trip first to Englethwaite if there's room -- And even that would be strange i.e. going there without benefit of having picked up a tad of Scots dialect
And there is more snow forecast early next week, must get my Kittens Mittens out again
But thanks for the reminder, Mate

14:15 Saturday 31st March
Phone call made Nellie, the Dirty Deed Is Done
First break of the year at Nunnykirk Cancelled due to sodden grass
But The First Break of the year will now be Same Dates At Old Hartley with H/standing -- at least if this gets ultra wet it'll probably just be a Very High Tide
I'm determined to get my "Beamish Fix" in this year

Obviously a good job done, phoning up. It's always best to check when the conditions are a "bit" iffy!! Glad that you managed to get a H/S pitch at Old Hartley. Plenty of places to visit up that part of the coast. Enjoy your trip.

I've had 24 hours practicing, Brue, and the general opinion is that I'm a lousy bloomin' comedian, but a Juggler -- Never
Thanks for the kind thoughts anyway but I'm determined to get into Beamish at least once if not twice this w/end
