    Nah, more 'granny corner shop' just like they had the kettle boiling and that toasting fork with door stop bread over those embers on that open fire!wink

    We have a built in woodburner in the original fireplace. Made by Woodwarm. Dont think its as efficient as a free standing  log burner though. We have ready access to free firewood and have oil central heating. Cant think that fitting a woodburner plus the liner and paying for firewood is economical.

    We’ve got a Morso Squirrel and a Hunter somethingorother. When we first got them wood was much cheaper than oil, now the price of oil has come down and the price of logs creeps ever upwards. The big thing for us though is the way the stoves reduce draughts howling across a room and up the chimney. We’ve got an old house with original sash windows...

    My best ever birthday present was a chain saw. If I need more logs (for say 3 yrs. time) I cut down another tree, cut into logs and then split them down and stack'em, so that when they are needed they are properly dry.
