Just wondering if anyone has stayed at Campingplatz Grafenlehen, if so what was your impression?

Not been there myself, but I read a number of comments relating to this campsite on

    www.camping.info
. It appears that it is a pleasant site with friendly staff and located in wondeful surroundings, ideal for walks. On the negative side was that fact that the toilet block could do with a bit of modernisation, noise from an adjacent stream
(although otherwise the site is very quiet), limited opening times at reception - nothing really very serious.

Thanks Lutz, pretty much as I thought.

I guess you may have already visited the Königssee area by now.

I stayed close by at Campingplatz Mühlleiten in 2016 and walked past the Campingplatz Grafenlehen site which is only 0.5 miles away.

Both sites are in a lovely area with a range of things to see and do.

    Would happily recommend both

If the weather behaves we'll probably end up at one of these 2 sites toward the end of May, so it's good to have a recommendation. Last time we were in the area we stayed just outside Bad Reichenall and travelled in. Want to get into the mountains this time, either here or around Garmisch.

ps Did you get there, Oneputt?

If you are going back then a few things which may interest you

    • Drive between Bad Reichenhall and Ramsau
    • If you go to Salzberg, you can use the P&R, or get the bus from  Berchgarden (quicker) or train (slower)
    • Konigsee ferry trip, but go early before the coach parties arrive http://www.seenschifffahrt.de/en/koenigssee/prices-and-offers/moneysavers/
    • Eagles Nest is worthwhile but pick a clear day
    • The toll road for the mountain drive with views over Germany & Austria on Rossfeldstrasse (€7) (Saturday)

Thanks but done all of those including P&R.

Now want to get some proper walking done. The walk down from the Eagles Nest was great but did admire the cyclists passing us, going up!

No we didn’t stay there although it’s still on the ‘to visit’ list.

if we go down to the mountains in May we would stay somewhere around Schwangau as we want to do the Julia Bradbury Romantic walk starting at the Tegelbahn and coming down via Neuschwanstein.
