There are two over temperature thermostats at the back of the heater and their contacts can disintegrate, which is what happened to mine. It’s not advisable to dismantle the heater yourself as it requires the gas and flue outlet connections to be disconnected. I had mine repaired at my local caravan repair centre, it cost about £80 but well worth it knowing the repair was carried out by a competent person.

Assuming we are talking about a Trauma S3002 fire + Ultraheat........
Does the green light in the control knob/switch come on. If not, you do not have 240v to the heater …..or the transformer on the control PCB has failed.
If the green light is on, then most likely it is either the over temperature limit switches as already mentioned, or equally likely the relays on the control PCB which are notorious for failing. If it is one or more of the 3 relays, a very common failure mode is that it will only work on the 500W setting. .....and it takes a long time before you can feel it producing heat at all.
The relays and transformer are cheap standard items and can be readily replaced if you know what you are doing. Alternatively EBay advertisers offer refurbished exchange boards.
