What are you all up to

Just back from an excellent walk to the Tunnel Inn. Not as muddy as we expected and still some snow where it has drifted against hedges. Pate and toast with a pint of Butcombes best for lunch. We felt it justified, as it is 4 miles each way.
If you fancy putting a face to the name JVB, look in when your passing. We are on pitch 105 just past the facilities block.

Last day today
quite windy but nice if you can get out of it.
Weather here has been a bit mixed up, normally our first week is windy with some clouds then the middle week is usually perfect temp and a nice mix of light clouds, the 3rd week is normally the hottest with only a light breeze and lovely blue skies. This year we've had it back to front.
Sounds like the weather is sorting itself out back home.
Husky, hope you get good news about your retirement, we both retired in 2011, 5 years early. Best decision by far although wasn't sure we would manage, with less than half the income we were used to. Not only have we managed we have saved as well.

Steve, you probably know this as a fairly regular visitor to Cirencester, but if you walk up through the park and keep going pat the polo ground you can get to Sapperton and enjoy a very well deserved pint and a spot of lunch at The Bell, one of our favourite pubs in the area.

Good luck with the plans, HD. I think 2 years is probably about the right amount of time for planning for retirement anyway, so that time scale sounds about right. I retired 2 years early back in 2010 - best decision I ever made, much though I loved the job I was doing. There's so much more out there, as long as you're sure you're financially secure.

I finished my full-time career in '94, retiring fully in 2010. I don't know where the last eight years have gone
Grab it while you can.
Had a pleasant day in Lewes today, visiting Ann of Cleves house which is next door to a property of similar vintage and was home to an elderly distant relative that I recall visiting when I was six. Finished off with a browse round the castle. Biting wind on top off the keep though.

It's always good to have 20/20 vision, HD.
Hope it doesn't take too long. I resented the year it took me to hand over my share of the business as I had only been allocated 3-5 more of them but retirement seems to have saved me, so no complaints. Do it while you can otherwise....
Good luck.

Sounds like it could be time to start the ball rolling towards 2020, Husky.

Hope the planning goes well Husky. It's coming up for 2 years since I stopped part time work, OH been retired 10 years, his state pension kicked in soon after I gave up so no real difference in income. I took my reduced work pension early as my state one was withheld by HMG for 6 more years than I signed up for 😤😢😭. Certainly haven't regretted it! No-one knows what the future offers or for how long, learnt that when our children was young and I thought I'd have to raise them alone.
Enjoy the planning and the countdown. Cut your cloth accordingly and you'll be amazed.

All seems back to normal with logging in now. Glad it wasn't just me.
Good luck with your retirement plans HD. We took early retirment in 2000 after a couple of years of planning and working out our finances and have never regretted it. We are not as well off as we might have been financially but I am sure our health is a lot better.
My car passed it's MOT but we had a severe warning tbat it was seriously overheating because it needed a new coolant fan (I am amazed it is not part of the MOT ) so we have left it with the garage for repair.
We had lunch in our conservatory as it was lovely and warm in the sunshine and then went to our 8 year old grand-daughter's after school gardening club as there had been a call for grandparents to help clear the gardens and do some planting up. I was amazed at how many of us turned up and what a difference we all made. It was good fun.

Milliehull how lovely, I have very nice memories of our primary school garden.
Too hot for lunch in our conservatory, but we did 😉, 29c. Such bliss 😆, only 9c the other side of the glass, but felt spring like.
We slotted in the 2 new fence panels, damaged by falling conifer branch caused by gales during our absence, our friends had told us and cleared up the branch into the brown bin which they got emptied, great house checkers 😆😆. OH went over Monday and bought 3 panels as we have another beginning to rot and so included that for delivery too. OH treated them once they were delivered Tuesday. I assisted with the 6x4 panels but have been spared 6x6 panel which will wait for our son's visit. Deemed too heavy and too high for me to lift. Don't know whether to be flattered or insulted 😂😂 as no concessions have been made previously.
Managed some garden tidying from hard surfaces, forgotten how much I loved gardening 😉. I'll still be able to see what I've done tomorrow!
Checked on our motorhome in storage, all' well. Started 1st time 😃 and ran the engine, moved tyres before reparking. MOT to book and retax from April for new adventures.

We had some good news from the warden yesterday afternoon. It seems our seasonal pitch will be ready by this afternoon, so we'll be able to move our caravan on to it today.

Our purple pitch marker for our seasonal pitch has just been put in by the warden. So now it's time to get the awning down ready to move. Then once in position, we'll need to put it back up again.
The sun is shining and the ground has dried out, so we have perfect weather for it.
I'm working 17:00 to 21:00 tonight, so 4 hours to do. Whilst I'm at work, my wife will be able to finish off to get us settled on to our new pitch. She doesn't need to go shopping this evening, so will just stay with the caravan.
So no worries now about where to stay for Easter!

Thanks, Chris. Yes it is a relief! We've now got the caravan moved on to our seasonal pitch. We've lost the sunshine though. It's got a bit overcast and cold too! We're having lunch first and then get the awning up soon after lunch.
