I went down to Pavia in Italy from Calias via France and Switzerland. The tolls in France were over £80 and the vignette for Switzerland was abou £64. The tolls paid in Italy were a few euros. I returned via Switzerland as vignette valid for a year but went through the Black Forest into Central Germany and onto Holland to get the ferry to Harwich.
In the Black Forrest I stay at Trendcamping at Wolfach which was brilliant. Hope this is some help

Bayern school holidays start on 18th May until 3rd June this year so the Lake Constance and Italian Lakes area will be very busy during that period. Pisa is very commercial. Lucca and Siena are, in my opinion, much more attractive.
The route to Pisa via the French tunnels is quite a lot more expensive in tolls and fuel than the route over the Fern and Brenner passes and the scenery on-route is far better. Unfortunately sites for caravans in the immediate area around Verona are few but there are plenty along the south Garda coast but avoid the dates stated above. Parking in Verona is plentiful and it's a beautiful city not to be missed. The opera season in the Arena starts in June and is well worth a visit. Train services in Italy are efficient and much better value than in the UK so the option to visit your Italian designations via train from a central location may be an option.

Hi Graham, it's good to hear of caravanners planning a tour when so many still drive direct to a planned destination, and then drive direct home again.
So decide the sights you want to see, rather than picking sites to stay at. There is a difference. Take your time - pause when you find somewhere you like - and if you have to shorten the route when time runs out then there is always another time.
Take care.

Having been to the places you wish to visit going via the Mediterranean coast would not be my choice of route having once travelled in the opposite direction. I would be inclined to follow Dave's suggestion of the Fern and Brenner Passes. Using that route you can do a bit of the Black Forest on the way down and on the way back! Another David's mention of Torre Pendante did bring back memories. Nothing special about the site except for the absolute convenience for visiting Pisa. Mind you I suppose it could have changed as it was 26 years ago that I was last there!!! If you drive to Verona just to have a look round try and time your visit for a Sunday as parking is easier and there is often things going on.
