Getting to Rüdesheim am Rhein
On our way to Croatia we have booked a few days at Camping Rüdesheim am Rhein. We are crossing from Hull to Zeebrugge and Via Michelin offers a route via Koblenz and down the B42 alongside the Rhine which although scenic looks as though it will be slow and twisty. If we travel down the autobahn to Wiesbaden and approach from south it warns of a low bridge (2.8m). Can anyone who has visited this site offer any advise please.

Copied from another site, we actually went under the low bridge but would not recommend it!
To find site:- This campsite is situated on road 42 which runs between Kobelnz and Wiesbaden. The road is better coming from the Weisbaden direction although approach from the north is spectacular because you follow the Rhine almost all the way but be prepared for it to be slower because of the numerous towns and villages along the way. To get to site in Rudesheim follow signs for car park 6, this avoids a low (2.8mt) railway bridge. The site is just past the tennis courts and the swimming pool.

Sounds like a quote from my campsite review

It's a bit old now but I am sure things have not changed.

I used autobhan 61 from Venlo on the Dutch border. You will join it just West of Colgne. Follow the 61 all the way to the junc for Bingen and follow signs for Fahre (ferry). The local ferry lands at the north side of Rudesheim. This road is No42 follow this passed Rudesheim with the river and railway on your right. Road veers left at the large tower. Still following the 42 you will pass the low bridge on your right. Follow the main road and then pass under a normal height railway bridge and take your next right into a trading estate. Right at the T junc and as stated above follow signs to the site via car park 6

Thanks for the responses. We are concerned about the 42 from Koblenz as we have discovered that we are travelling on a German bank holiday and suspect it could be busy. The timetable site for the ferry from Bingen is showing an error message, so will try that later. If you travel on the 42 from Wiesbaden do you have to pass under the low bridge or is there a way around to the car peak 6. Tried to look on Google maps but still not certain. Any help appreciated.

I wouldn't bother with the 42 from Koblenz when towing. Leave that until you are solo.
You don't need to worry about a timetable for the ferry from Bingen. There are two running in opposite directions, the river is only about 1/2 mile wide so the journey is only minutes. Just turn up and join the queue you pay your fare onboard.
If you do decide to come in from Wiesbaden you will be adding about 30 miles to your journey. However coming from that direction you won't get to the bridge, on entering the outskirts of the town turn left at MacDonalds and then feed your way around the trading estate to the right. This is the route I take and it is quicker and easier than going down to Wiesbaden and back up the other side. Don't worry about the timetable the ferry runs all the time from about six in the morning to late at night. The turning into the trading estate is the best way, go through the town and turn right at McDonalds and follow the road round to the right. The site is very nice, but can be busy and it is a nice walk along to the town.

Been to Rudesheim on a number of occasions and use the Bingen ferry route. Easy to get to and very frequent after 0700. Plenty of space - it takes buses!
