For me the Motorhome Design Awards are a disappointment when compared with their predecessor The Design and Drive Awards. As I understand it the awards are based on an evaluation without driving so cannot be as informative compared with the previous efforts to simulate real world use. I appreciate that this "diluted" format may have been introduced on grounds of cost.

Furthermore the new format only includes manufacturers who attend the NEC show whereby any who do not are in effect excluded from consideration. Of course it might be argued that by using the show as opposed to seeking entries the range of possible winners is extended. Either way it might be fair if the Club  were to point out the limitations of the current format with particular reference to entering only show vehicles.

If I have misunderstood the format and/or if I am wrong I am sure someone will put me right !!
