Next week's weather
Just thought anyone thinking of going away next week may want to watch this first. Not the usual hype the papers publish and from a respected forcaster. Does look like its going to be fun though.

Weather forecasts are on a par with financial forecasts.
Look on the bright side, as the Norwegians say, every day its sunny* and dress for the worst, then remove layers if you are over dressed.
*If it wasn't sunny, there would be no daylight
Should it be snow, wait till the roads are cleared before going out, same as they do in snowbound countries. No point in creating the gridlock if incapable, ill-equipped or just idiotic to go out in it. Put the heating on and stay inside.

Had our annual boiler check at home yesterday. Prudent timing it would seem.

Where are you heading? We'll be heading down to Teeside on Monday for 4 nights so we could well run into it.

Managed to wangle 5 nights at Knaresborough site as all other alternatives that we wanted in area are either not open yet or booked. Forgot about it being Half term. Want to get to Leeds and also Mrs WN wants to see an art thingamabob in Harrogate. Finished with appointments now until Wednesday so would only be kicking our heels.
Take care next week. Hopefully we'll get out of the way before it gets bad.

That's the trouble these days...half term is at different time in different areas and seem to last for about 4 weeks these days.
Hopefully the weather won't be as bad a some predict, or we'll be hunkering down at White Water for a while!!

We're off to Sandringham tomorrow - for a week and then stopping off at Woodhall Country Park for 4 nights on the way back. As long as it's not windy when towing, the weather can do what it likes!

I feel cheated! I thought now we were getting our weather from the French we would be having lovely summers. Now I find the Russians are interfering with our weather as well as our democracy. Whatever next?

Extreme weather, how often have we seen that forecast and then all we get is normal winter weather. Why this surprises some people, I've no idea. It's still winter so winter weather should be expected.
Take the normal precautions if you have to venture on to the roads and fit winter tyres if you must, Pay attention to the previous nights weather forecast for the area you want to travel in. Be prepared to change your travel plans at short notice. Winter is a great time of the year and being out and about during winter brings it's own rewards.

Corners, I think it's 'cos the diary -- thingy they use can't handle the change of dates - a flawed system perhaps, unlike the one wot we're a-usin' on CT
K, at least they are warning us well in advance of the Possibility of problems !!
When I was working I used to hate getting called out and leaving my nice warm bed to be faced with a half mile walk, getting the motor out of the compound, then dashing off ( joke ! ) into the depths of Cheshire for a problem to be fixed. Nearly always an hour or more then the trip back to town in a cold motor, all iced up again.
At least if we'd had the warnings like this we could have the relevant gear to hand, not stuck away in some remote locker.
Never deny the call out staff a bit of warning please.

Not much point in getting out a snow plough for many of the roads around here. These weather warnings are taken to heart by so may plonkers who go park their cars out on the road because they have a sloping driveway, or estate road. Park both sides of the road they do, so no space to get a snowplough blade through between them. Sometimes tricky to get even a Land Rover down some of these roads.

We're due out to Hilltop Farm, Thrussington on Wednesday and looking forward to it, if it comes too bad next weekend we'll just stay there as we did before Christmas when we got snowed in.

We're heading down to White Water Park on Monday and due to move to near Whitby the following Friday. We may be staying put at Teeside should the snow be as bad as forecast.

As a motorhomer with a continental 'van and inboard water tank, I wonder how you caravanners are going to stop your aquarolls freezing! No amount of lagging will help when the air temp gets sub-zero and stays there. Happy camping though

On the early BBC news/weather this morning they started talking about the possibility of Blizzard conditions in the South from Thursday onward's
Better go and panic buy Bread, Milk,..............

In the "few" years we have caravaned during the winter months only on our very first "novice" Rally back in the 1970s did our water supply freeze, but you soon learn how to cope and have never had a problem since with any cold winters in caravans or motor caravans,as the saying goes "there is no such thing as problems with poor weather when out and about, its down to bad preparation in the first place"

So, the last time we took the van out it was between Christmas and New Year (snow) and now we're due to go to Broadway on Thursday, and 'the beast from the east' approaches! Think I'm jinxed or maybe we should just stick to European trips
