If only MM did take advice ..... wink

Maybe you should look in on this thread more, then you will see that MM has also shared with us all quite openly his thoughts and wisdom.

Maybe now we can let this thread get back to the friendly chat that those of us who frequent it on a daily basis enjoy.smile

Woke to the ground and car frozen white, and quite thick mist. It was slow in warming up, however as we drove up to Berwick the sky cleared. After stocking up at Aldi we drove along to the golf course car park and walked down to the harbour and to the end of the pier before returning along the town walls. The chill mist was swirling down the River Tweed and dispersing over the sea. After lunch the mist cleared completely and the sun eventually came out as we were wandering through the town. Unfortunately the Barracks had not opened for the season so missed out on visiting them this trip.

After being the only van on site since we arrived a M/H pitched up this evening.

Now  don't  take  umbrage  W2Go,  Sometimes  we  all  put  in  print  thoughts  that  are  not  100 %  what  we  mean.

We did thank you. Decided to park up on West Cliff for a change, so a different walk into the town. Parking was free as well, much to our surprise! It was heaving, lots of children as well, must be some still on half term. Tide was well out, so we had a good play on beach with dogs,   RNLI Museum was open, that was very interesting, hadn't been in before today. It was sunny, but very cold. As we drove back over Moors car temp was indicating -1c, and some of streams were frozen. We are snug and warm in cottage though!smile

Berwick Walls are always a good walk, very interesting. We missed the Barracks as well last year.

That is not what I meant, just that if you were a frequent visitor to this thread you would be more familiar with MM's posts.

Like you no intention of being unfriendly, and no one asking you to bow out everyone is allowed to voice their opinions.

Are you up in York brue? If you are, have a good time.  Hope you get some of the weather we have had these last few days, sunny and crisp! If you are interested, I think the Sir Nigel Gresley is currently in Railway Museum, in bits I think, under renovation! Let us know how noisy hotel building is, and when they finish, as we are booked in early July!

At no time did I 'rebuff you', nor did I tell you 'to go away' you seem  intent on miss interpreting what was written.

Again apologies to all other posters.

Good night I will not be replying again.

Busy day, early start down in town to attend the gas safety inspection at DD's flat, which she rents out.  All OK there.

Later, OH went shopping while I dealt with a load of yew logs that a friend had brought round while we were out.....they were very heavy!   Had to be moved as he had dumped them where the caravan usually sits.

Should make some lovely turned items in a few years, once they are all dried out.

Yes, they did give me a free small pizza once when I agreed to work an extra shift and on another occasion when I did an eight hour day shift. I was also allowed a break to eat it!

I once tried putting up some bookshelves in the bedroom of a previous property, unsuccessfully! It was a waste of time because in the end I had to call in a carpenter, who completed the job in no time at all! I'm afraid I'm hopeless at DIY so I leave these kind of jobs to the professionals! At that time it cost £80 to get a carpenter to do it and after having struggled trying to do it myself, I thought the money was well spent be cause the shelves were still there when I moved from that property!

The sudden improvement in the weather during the afternoon to blue skies and sunshine made us decide to visit the NT Nymans which is quite close to the site where we are staying, only about 8 miles and 15 minutes by car. Lovely sunshine but cold! The House was closed but the gardens, parkland, cafe and shop were all open.

Surprisingly there were some flowering plants. We saw snowdrops, Camellia, a daffodil and cyclamen amongst others. There were also some nice views from the footpath next to the house

We'll be able to visit more often when we stay on our seasonal pitch next winter.

I'm puzzled, JK. if you are leaving your 5th wheeler in Dolores, do you have another van that you use for your wardening duties in the UK?

Had a good day yesterday. Drove to my youngest Daughters home in Leigh arriving 9.30am. By 10am the two grandsons (5 and 6) were ensconced in the car and we went off to Tatton Park. A nice sunny day. We had a walk around the park. The two kids wanted to go on the playground first but, as it was pretty crowded we persuaded them to wait!

Went to the farm park. the kids enjoyed the park but the highlight for them was probably eating their crusty sandwich cobs sat on a bench with the chickens eating the crumbs around their feet. One also flew onto the arm of the bench and cleaned the crumbs off the 5 year old much to his delight.

Then onto the adventure playground within the farm park. The youngest was delighted with the 'assault' course and spent a good 45 minutes on there. The eldest spent the time making a den by placing large cut tree branches against a tree to make a wigwam shape. Could not drag him away from his labour.

By 2.30pm I was frozen to the marrow, back hurt and hip too. Having washed some of the muck off their hands I did not want one of the lads on each hand as we made our way back to the main playground so I convinced them to go ahead with their mum whilst I limped behind with numerous rest stops. I didn't make the playground as the car was closer, my spine and hip were giving me gip and my toes were cold! . Phoned daughter and said to stay as long as they wanted but I was in the car with my ibuprofen and a flask of coffee.

The two lads and my daughter were back at the car for 3.30pm and did not seem to feel the cold although I think their mum did.

No sooner were the two kids belted in than they were asking for fish and chips! As one has a gluten intolerance and the other a milk intolerance the only time that they have a battered fish is when I or my eldest daughter is there to access a local chip shop about 1.3 miles from their home where they cater for different diets. I settled for a potato scallop in the car after they were back home. I didn't fancy sitting in what would be a cold house.

Back home for 4.30 and some more ibuprofen, a couple of scotches and a hot coffee.

Cold breezy day here in East Norfolk but at least it's dry.  Got an appointment with the consultant this morning.  Off to Oulton Broad this afternoon to try and photo a Red-breasted Merganser then call in on the grandtwins for a period of fun and play  laughing

Very cold here as well, currently hovering around zero. Going to be a cold walk to the butchers, but sun is breaking through and the pavements are not icy, so that is a plus. Last night I recorded -6.2 C and according to the meteorologists it is going to get significantly colder as we go into the weekend.  Brrrr. I spoke to my sister in Orange last night and only 6 C in the day there with a very cold wind. Looking at the charts the whole of Europe down to the Med seems to be affected by this beast from the east.

Lovely sunny day and no frost.

Off to hairdresser shortly for a quick trim before our holidays next week, then into town to collect OH's new spec's and my new prescription sunglasses. Wlil probably pop in to see big sister on the way back and more than likely a food shop of some kind.

Might even get in another hour or two at sons house. The garden is large and there is lots of leaves to be raked up especially under the hedges, yesterday I did the strip of garden down one side of the front path and scraped the moss off the path, looking better already with just a few bits tackled.

WE have a chap with a second fella working for him that cut our grass once a fortnight during the growing season. When we are away our neighbour pays him for us as they have the same service.

When we returned from our December break we were surprised to see that our lawns had been cut and trimmed but it seems to have been a good decision and we do leave it up to the chap to decide if cut is required out of main season. We were also surprised that all the fallen leaves etc had been cleared and we had been charged an extra £15. Well pleased with that as we have a fairly large garden and would happily have paid more.

We had someone in to do the hedges for him as they were out of control, 2 x leylandii  and 2 x privet, it took 3 men 31/2 hours to cut and clear them up, they also knocked down and cleared away the old garden shed. Well pleased with what they did and the cost but the rest we can do, as it happens I like gardening and even more I like to see it looking all nice and tidy afterwards, I find it quite therapeutic. Its getting a bit more tiring than it used to but I just take my time and try and limit it to a couple of hours if its hard work. OH tends to do the clearing for me which is a great help.

Hair now cut and looking tidy once again smile quick cuppa then off into town.

Isn't that a contradiction to what you said to me in your earlier post, Tammygirl? You said you do everything yourselves and never pay to have anything done. Yet in this post you're saying you paid to have someone to trim your hedges!surprised

Why do you need to cut your hair? You could save money by just growing it long like my wife does. Long hair looks more beautiful too!kiss
