Malaga Area

Planning to head for Malaga area in September 2018 with caravan. Site reviews seem very conflicting. Any recommendations for  site in the far south of Spain, for two weeks in September. Prefer: clean facilities, a beach within walking distance, a restaurant (basic will do), also within walking distance of a small town or village and mostly quiet without a railway or motorway too close by. Pitches with EHU and 80sq m or more, for 5.50m two-berth and awning.

Any ideas please?

Thanks.

Peter Cartledge.

    Hi

My suggestion would be Camping Cabopino. We've stayed two winters there and loved it. It has 10 amp ehu, pretty good paid for wifi and is a 15 minute walk to the beach. A bus stops near the site for Fuengirola one way and Marbella the other. If you look on overseas sites on this website it gives you all the details and reviews.

Not Malaga area but it meets all your criteria, Camping Las Dunas, Puerto Santa Maria, across the bay from the delightful town of Cadiz with the added bonus of a ferry across the bay to Cadiz and the sherry houses of Jerez nearby.

Thank you for your help JK. Looks good. Reviews seem OK, but feral cats sound like a problem on ACSI reviews. I cant stand cats. Also some mentions of noise from A7 motorway. Any thoughts?

Thanks peedee, probably a bit too far west for us, unless we change our plans. Which might be!

All Spanish campsites have feral cats.  Some sites are more plagued than others.  If campers did not feed them they would go elsewhere.  Also if no cats watch out for mice and worse!

Agree with above comments about the area around Cadiz.  Much more pleasant than the Costas.

Brilliant, thank you everyone, all most helpful.

We have now decided to go west, to the Cadiz area as suggested, as it sounds as though it will suit our lifesyle better than the Costas. Then, so we discovered only a few miles further west, we can spend a week afterwards in the Algarve too!!

In our case, via Plymouth and Santander as we have done so before several times, very successfully.

    Thanks once again.
