Northern Spain Ideas please
After a successful trip driving our camper through France to Northern Italy, we have decided this year to sail to Santander and drive back up through France to Cherbourg.
Last year we had a route planned taking in the various sites like Mont Blanc, Pisa and Lake Orta however this year we dont have a plan in mind. Is there anywhere that is a must see or definitely give it a miss? We have 2 girls 15 & 8 so would like a bit of beach time but im not fussed for too much hustle and bustle but i dont want to miss anything either.
Also do any of you have any fab tips when it comes to what food to take, i didnt do bad last year but we were very low on supplies when we got back to the UK because our fridge didnt work too well, luckily we had an electric cool box to help out and we will get the fridge working on gas this time so should make life a little we easier.

The only food items I must take abroad are Yorkshire tea bags, British bacon and Cheddar cheese. Everything else including a wide range of other cheeses we buy locally. We go early or late season so it isn't always suitable weather for cooking outside so I do fill the freezer section with home cooked food to save me cooking some nights. Other than that as Deleted User User says just enough to save shopping for the first few days while travelling to our first site.

The ages of your daughters would indicate that you will be travelling in school holidays at the end of July. This is the height of the season in both France and Spain and reservations will be required at most resorts. The weather in northern Spain may be OK at that time and there are several sites along the coast towards France with access to beaches, for example Playa Joel near Santander. You would enter France near St Jean de Luz, where all sites are extremely popular at that time and reservations definitely required. Similarly for the ferry to Spain book soon if you want a cabin on your crossing.

Hi Deleted User User
We are going mid august during school holidays and yes I'm looking for suggestions of places to visit on our journey back we have booked our ferry to Santander through the club and are sailing back from cherbourg but don't really have a middle bit planned. We have 11 days to do the journey.
Our problem with the fridge was we were trying to run it in 12v because we were using aires but it didn't stay cold enough and curdled my asda milk so I was a bit upset lol
Going to have a look at playa Joel landyrover 😊

Re your fridge, it will of course only run on 12v while the engine is running, once the engine is turned off the 12v will stop and you have to change it over to gas or plug into the site electrics.
Deleted User Users suggestion for the St Jean De Luz area is good as it Il de Re, or Il de Oleron, however the Royan area is also very nice and plenty of sites.
If you have time to stop off around Nantes its worth looking in at 'The Machines' (Les Machines) the girls will love it, google it and have a look. Definitely worth booking ahead for the popular sites but getting better towards the end of the month of August.
Enjoy
