Ours was submitted in December and was our worst ever, but this January has been slightly better. We have had a few very sunny days but unfortunately also had snow at the same time, so not much generation on such days.

Today we have more snow, started yesterday afternoon and has been snowing off and on since.  Very cold here.

Very cold here again today and a really hard frost overnight.

Off to the opticians this lunchtime, both of together this time, usually we are a year apart but I have to have yearly checks due to the start of cataracts. I'm not aware of them yet but they noticed them last time so want to check again this year to see how fast they are developing.

Well for the first time I have booked ahead for a break in the MH, Mid July too, its to see the tall ships when they are in Sunderland, (thanks to ABM) just so happens it the OH's birthday that weekend so though why not. Looked at going to Old Hartley surprised but the cost at that time of year was horrific, so have booked a CL for a couple of nights then a C&CC site for 3 nights a bit further up the coast. Managed to get 3 nights with C&CC for the price of 2 at Old Hartley smile this club really isn't doing themselves any favors.

Time to get ready OH chomping at the bit laughing

We've just been sorting out a replacement conservatory, another visit by the people who are going to build it this morning as we changed our minds about some of the details. Our old conservatory should have outlived us but it hasn't, this is all a bit painful on the wallet! It also means more time at home mid year when it gets built, I think this will be our last big project but OH also has some building work to finish too. So as usual, work continues. wink

Good luck with the Opticians, TammyG. Mrs.WN has a visit this afternoon. She had a cataract operation a couple of years ago and it turned out great. She thinks she may need the other one doing soon.

It was very crisp when I went for a blood test this morning. Why don't they grit Hospital Carparks? Trying to drum up business? There was a clinic going on this morning being attended by a lot of quite elderly people! Anyway I got there 10 minutes early and settled down to read the paper but as there was nobody there they called me in. When I came out there was a queue of 6 people. It used to be a lot worse a few years ago when you took the next number whenever you arrived. Now it's by appointment.

We looked at a few CAMC sites for June, and Old Hartley too for July, on our way back north, and also ended up booking mainly CLs and CCC sites.

CCC keep their shoulder season in England going till the English school holidays start, so we wrinklies also get their over 60s discount, whereas CAMC start peak season on some of the English sites close to Scotland or popular with the Scots, at the start of the Scottish school holidays in late June.

It does make a big difference.

So now the  only CAMC site we are using on that trip is Garlieston.

Later in the year we will have a stopover going both south and north at Thirsk Racecourse, otherwise only using CLs.

Took the twins to the park on their balance bikes, then after a crazy hour back home to check the pond for frogs, had to break the ice this morning.

Wood turning club meeting this evening, and since I will pass our local tip on the way there, I have loaded up a few things we hauled out of the loft on Friday that can be disposed of.

Some other items will go to a charity shop, and the rest are baby things to be sorted through for DD.  At least the pile on the landing is getting smaller.

Amazing the stuff you find now that you were looking for 10 years back and could not find!!   embarassed

Spent most of morning at "fracture clinic" now that swelling has gone down they think the damage is torn ligaments in the knee,so no longer need splints but still on crutches and NO driving appointment being made for Cat scan at our local clinic, worst case scenario is an op as things do not repair well at "our age"undecided

still very cold and snow stiil laying in shadows but sunny and no wind ,and ever the optimist as its half term ,the ice cream man and van have been into our road surprised

Are you going for one with the current trend for fully insulated roof?

We don't often go away in high season, now I know why laughing as you say the C&CC haven't gone into the high period until the school break up which is a week later than we are going. However the C&MC will have already gone in to it.

It does make a difference, we are getting 2 nights on a CL (H/S and EHU) and 2 nights on a C&CC coastal site for just over £3 less that 2 nights at Old Hartley.

We still don't know what we will be doing in May/June yet due to Phil's shoulder op but if we are staying in the UK then I doubt very much that it will be on C&MC sites.

Yes but it's been a bit of a palaver, we've changed plans from "tiled" to one called a "livinRoof"(looks a bit like lead!) Theyr'e all insulated so should be ok. We are changing the footprint so our old one is coming down, we could have rebuilt the panels and added a roof but we are starting from scratch again. The last one should be a better construction altogether, we hope. undecided

We've had some weird weather up here in the hills today. Short periods of glorious sunshine followed by longer periods of full on blizzard conditions this morning.

I had to dig the drive out at lunchtime so that I could get the car out, the roads were clear however.

    Now it's freezing again.

Very  frosty and  sunny morning so had a lovely walk with the dog, no mud ! smile

Pegged out all the sheets and towels before work so nice to get them outside.

Sold our porch awning on Gumtree and it was being collected tonight, but we couldn't find the curtains surprised searched everywhere even went to storage yard to check in the van. Eventually found them in a Primark bag under the spare bed!  Just in time smile

Snow showers at Penrith this morning, all the Lakeland Fells covered but virtually none east of Carlisle. All the main roads were clear so no problems getting across. Bitterly cold though in the wind and still some ice on the fields. Walked after lunch around to Alnwick just to suss out the best way in. Found both the Aldi and Lidl so shopping's sorted for later in the week!!

Enjoy your stay, Francis. How's the new van doing? Guess you had quite a few snow showers this morning, as they all seemed to be coming from that direction.

Well what a night - no not that sort 😁.

Managed to flood cabin, no overflow in kitchen sink 😲. OH didn't notice 😤. Under sink cupboard contents soaked, luckily crockery and cutlery. But tea bag bixes, i drink herb teas, soaked on work surface most bags salvaged. All our clean supply of towels used to mop, had to send SOS text for new supplies to our friend the owner, she miss understood and turned up with old ones and a mop. Hysterics all round 😂😂😂. Cuppa gossip and I collected fresh ones.

Humid hot HEAVY HEAVY rain, still steady now and forecast as 94% chance of precipitation and 93% humid for today and tomorrow 😲😲😲. Thunder rumbling around too. This is the wettest we've known it here in our 10 years of visiting, not much fun for touring (we look at it as living in a different place rather than a holiday - but do continue to explore). The only real positive is its warm and once the sun comes out it dries up fast.

Still managing breakfast outside on the decking under the canopy in sleeveless top. Reckon it'll be a museum visit this afternoon, the interactive bit is great.

Brue don't want to pour cold water on your conservatory plans but have thought about the loss of light from a solid roof? We replced our 1930s conservatory in 2000, custom built, double glazed etc. We have Thomas Sanderson blinds on the windows and roof.  It faces south so blinds reflect the heat when down, but allow light through if that makes sense! They are great. However, the amount of light they stop reaching our dining room and kitchen is amazing, we do need the light on on the brightest of days if we are 'doing' in there, the kitchen has a side window so not as bad. Just food for thought before commitment. Whilst they don't insulate our conservatory is used year round with a little heat if necessary. Our electric heater is on frost to very low over the colder months.

Hearing about all the trip planning is making me realise we haven't got anything planned beyond this nz trip.

Never fear B2 we are having some windows in the roof, at present we have blinds and it's still too warm if it's very sunny.

Hope you are enjoying your travels what ever the weather, it's still very cold here.

We had brilliant weather yesterday so we decided to go for a walk along the Promenade to Brighton pier. We had fish and chips on the pier and then I got a phone call from work to ask if I could work an extra shift that evening from 5 to 8 p.m. So our plan to visit The Lanes had to be postponed. By the time we got back to the site, it was 3.15 p.m., so just a short break before getting ready for work. I left by 4 p.m. as it takes nearly an hour to get to work from the Brighton site.

Although it's a long walk from the site to the pier, there are lots of benches, so if you get tired, you can sit down and have a rest with a sea view. We thought we had all day so we took it easy getting there!

It was windy all night last night and I can feel the caravan rocking as I type this.

You've just hit the nail on the head, brue! I love your comment about painful on the wallet! That is precisely the reason why I don't want to buy or rent a house. It is also the reason why we enjoy using our caravan all the year round. Staying on club sites and cls is far less painful on the wallet, I can assure you. It's also a lot more fun because you get to meet and talk to other people and see life buzzing around you! What better way to enjoy your retirement than that?

Thank you so much for that comment, brue. It has made a feel a whole lot better about my lifestyle choice!

Yesterday, whilst I was at work, there's an Estate Agent on the same parade of shops which I often pass by as I'm loading pizzas into the car for delivery.

I couldn't help noticing the prices of even modest dwellings. You need quarter of a million pounds minimum! To me, it doesn't bear thinking! I bought my first house, a brand new build three-bedroomed detached house back in 1978, for £9390! Today, if you want property at that price, the answer is a caravan. The day I got out of property ownership was the happiest day of my life! My dream of a new caravan came true and the freedom that goes with it! It means not having to be financially hurt, brue, by an expensive conservatory roof!

A caravan awning is just as good as a conservatory but a lot, lot less cost! We bought our awning for less than £1000 brand new and have been using it all the year round for nearly three years now. It might still be good for another 7 years and if we need extra accomodation space, we have the two side annexes.
