Good luck to anyone trying to live in a caravan on site and survive on £150 a week. Probably they would be better off stealth camping in a transit

There are sites, not in this area, but if you're not too choosy about location where you can stay for £5 a night with basic facilities and no EHU. If you shop, like my wife does, in the right place at the right time, food for one person need not cost more than £30 per week. So total £55 per week. It's difficult admittedly but nevertheless, possible.

Now ignoring some salient facts such as when living in a caravan on £125 a week after site fees that it is difficult to afford a car and winter is pretty cold in a caravan without EHU when you can't afford gas that sounds like an ideal solution Malc.

Not possible if your in your late 80's living in a caravan with failing health and unable to drive anymore? If your just camping in an area but not a resident I can't see the local authority bending over backwards to put you in care at the expense of the local residents.

Yes as you say, as long as you keep up the payments. It's when ill health or accidents prevents a debtor from working is when the problems start, and the bailiffs move in. Would hate to be in that position.

He has his cousins house to live in, the one he has told immigration he's a tenant of.

It depends how much you use the car. Our Shogun is costing very little to run now because we only use it once every three weeks to move sites and the occasional short run in between to keep the engine turned over.

Merve uses his solar panel and inverter to get free electricity! There are other solutions like power generators.

Because officially, I am a tenant. I have a tenancy agreement that has been endorsed by a solicitor! In fact my wife and I have a joint tenancy agreement. Having a tenancy agreement doesn't mean we can't be out and about in our caravan, does it?

You wouldn't be having a 'nice' walk on our beach, Millie, it is pouring down here!  Me?  I am off to a coffee morning! smile

Perhaps Milliehull likes walking in the rain, taffyY! It's pouring with rain here too, as I type this. So I think it's preferable to stay inside my caravan in the warm and dry! Enjoy your coffee morning, I hope its warm and dry getting there as well as being there!

We had a good day yesterday the weather here was nice sunny but cold. We had a walk around the shops then had a lovely meal at the local pub close to the  site. Not much on TV last night so when we got back tto the van we watched a DVD. It rained all night last night you could hear it battering off the roof of the caravan looks like it is clearing up now though hopefully it does as we will be heading out soon.

I take that to mean you've not been watching any of the Winter Olympics, Francis!

I saw Dippy on our local news too, rebuilding him, quite a task. I've seen him at the Natural  History museum. Will have to look up his tour .

Bit damp and very cold this morning, been into town to drop off a big bag of unwanted clothes at the charity shop, we've got so many in town now it's difficult to choose which one surprised

OH had a look at waterproof coats, but couldn't find one he liked, and  they say women can't choose. wink

Millie, how lovely to have all your grandchildren together, I bet they will have a great time..smile

It may well happen Malcolm. However, you are lucky that some of us have saved and will be put in that position. Councils are struggling to fund care home places at the moment, without those of us who will pay the system would totally collapse.

Clearly you are contributing little to funding your own future care costs.

Now back to watching the Biathlon.😀

It is all a lot cheaper than paying pitch fees and £26,000 to replace your "house"

Lovely walk down to the beach, only about 19 minutes from the house.  Weather pretty good, blue sky but breezy and quite cold.  Little sea birds called Turn stones on the harbours mouth, just love these busy little and amusing birds.  We have a lovely large sandy beach  with enough room for all to enjoy.  Grand twins love it when we take them there.  On a clear day you can see Scroby sands about 2 miles offshore,  usually with the sea breaking over them, the picture I below shows the sands with seals basking.  Got home and within 10 minutes sun had gone and wintry showers had startedyell

Lovely photos OP. What a beautiful beach. Glad you got the best of the day.  It has clouded over here as well now and is raining freezing cold rain.
