The station at the site is a steam railway and train times are limited. If you don't fancy the walk to town there is a bus stop within a few minutes of the site. We used the tram to Manchester it took about 40-45 mins, it was £4 return for pensioners.
In my opinion that is the only way to go for a stranger. It really was simple.

I think you would have to walk pretty quick to get to the Bury Interchange in 20 minutes as its two miles? I think if you were going for a day out I would take the bus or a taxi from the site so at least you get to the Tram cool,calm and collected, especially as you are unfamiliar with the area.

Should have been 30 mins walk time. a simple route given by the warden. We are no walkers but found it a very easy stroll. You end up at the bus station and you get the tram from there.
Perhaps Mollysmummy could give more accurate details, she lives there.

I'm a fairly quick walker and, turning left off Woodhill Road, walking over the river and through the park, passing the fire station, I'd say a good half hour into Bury to catch public transport but, in November it could be cold and wet and I think I too would get a taxi in.
There's a fair choice of eateries at the Lowry Outlet.
Also, the East Lancashire Railway trains only run at weekends in the winter.I'd be a bit more concerned about getting back to the site late at night at the end of the evening.

Just out of interest I put "Manchester trams" into a search engine and immediately found the metrolink site which provides necessary information about Greater Manchester trams, including routes and timetables.
I'm sure that I could also have found details of buses from Bury to Burrs Country Park if I had put that into a search engine.
Whenever we are going to visit an area and wish to use public transport we always find the relevant routes and timetables using the above method. It usually is easy to find what we need - after all the public transport sites are there to provide the necessary information.
It is also possible to find walking times (eg Burrs Country Park to Bury bus station) by a using search engine. (As has been show on this thread and others contributors sometimes make mistakes or (inadvertently) give incorrect times.)
So much information is readily available if we only search in the correct places!

Everything you say is correct with sensible suggestions but I think the reasons people ask for information on forums is that they want to know more about others personal experience rather than just cold facts. I use Google Earth a lot for research. Burrs Park is a nice site and we have used the bus from near the site. We wouldn't walk as its a bit far with the condition of my knees currently. We have often been a bit reluctant to use Taxi's but are coming round to the idea more although if arriving back late I would be inclined to check that a taxi will be available although Bury being quite a large town I doubt that would be a problem.

I love Burr's as there's so much to do out and about.
I've got a similar problem in getting to London to see Bat Out of Hell without changing trains about four times. Hotel booked; just need to get there and back at weekend.

Bury's 'World Famous Market' used to be better than it is now, it's all cafes now. There were loads of butchers & veg etc stalls, but as there are various supermarkets just a stone's throw away they've closed down as owners retired. Still a good fish market though. 😊

I am sorry that I offended you with my post.
It obviously irked you so much that you felt the need to take time out of your holiday to give a detailed explanation as to why you couldn't do your own searches.
(I was trying to show how definitive, accurate information can easily be obtained. Obviously you know but there are some people who do not seem to be able or willing to do this and rely on information from other forum members. As we have seen at various times, some replies can be inaccurate.)
It was good to see that you thanked other people for their input. (Too often on forums people ask for suggestions or information and receive a number of replies but don't have the courtesy to thank those who have tried to help.)
I trust that you enjoy the performance when you finally get to see it and that all the efforts have been worthwhile.
