Dull and grey today so a good day to go to the caravan show in Glasgow.
Not long back from there and managed to spend '0' so a good day
didn't look at any of the caravans as not going back to one just yet.
Saw a few MH's we liked the look of but sad to say none of them British built, one that really took our fancy was a Pilote going to think about it and have another look in a week or so's time.
Also saw a few static vans that were very nice and half the price of a MH but didn't fancy any of the sites that they would go on

We thought we were doing well with our old boiler installed several owners ago, 30 years plus, but since having a new one we've discovered just how efficient they are.
Today, we have been down to the coast near Bridport, where it was as dull and wet as it has been at home but it was nice to get some sea air.
Tomorrow our new boiler gets serviced for the first time, OH hopes it's all done by computer because we sort of feel if anyone touches it that's when the problems will start.....

We have a rolling contract with British Gas as we don't want MiL to have to start searching around if something goes wrong when we're away. In view of her age we get quite quick appointments. On the last visit to replace a small piece that was leaking the engineer did state that our current boiler is endangered as Worcester will soon stop making spares for our model which will mean a new one even if something small goes wrong. It's the same with everything these days.
Good luck for tomorrow Brue.

Now settled in the caravan on a CL close to home. At least we get a few days pretending to be on "holiday" out of a rubbish situation.
The boiler is located in our loft and has leaked water which has seeped into the ceiling of the bedroom below. We now have stains over most of the ceiling in that room 😟. Our boiler is a Vaillant which we had installed 12 years ago this week......maybe it decided not to make its 12th birthday. 😮 All will be sorted out by next weekend. At least we can relax and watch the rugby and Winter Olympics in the caravan. 😊

Just picked up our brand new Swift, a great comprehensive and thorough handover which was luckily undercover. Now on site and it is blowing a gale and raining cats and dogs.
Absolutely delighted with the caravan it's gorgeous and thanks to Alde lovely and toasty inside.
I've worried so much about taking delivery of this caravan and what we would potentially find wrong with it. Can't find a single fault (at present) just love it.

Our last boiler was a Vailant, installed when the house was built, it lasted 20 years. Our present one is an Ariston and was serviced last week by the same guy who installed it. He said it is in great nick. Fingers crossed.
Had a great day today. We went with our local U3A group on a church visit to a lovely little village church where we were given a wonderful and informative tour followed by a marvellous tea by the 'church ladies'. It's win win as we have a wonderful afternoon and as we pay for the tour and the tea we help the church funds.

What a change from yesterday weather wise. We had a beautiful day when we towed up to Penrith; there was sun in the sky, snow on the ground with the Lakeland Fells covered and the prospect of a chilly night. Woke this morning to find nearly all of the snow gone, still dry but low cloud. We took the bus from Rheged to Keswick and drove into rain which continued till mid afternoon. Definitely not the best conditions for a walk on the fells so we just wandered along the old railway line as far as the destroyed bridge and back, then down to the Lake (to give Flyte a cleaning dip in the water) and Friars Crag before catching the bus back to site. More rain showers this evening.

Oh dear! And we were thinking of going for a Vaillant when our present boiler expires!!
Not good about the ceiling. We have a similarly stained ceiling, not due to a boiler but to a leaking header tank connection.....after 29 years.
Today I have been at DD's house fixing her 5 year old condensing boiler....at least I hope I have fixed it!
She had a drip from the boiler, which appeared to be coming from the join of the condensate pipe to the boiler, which I have now tightened up.
Why does a joint like that start leaking after 5 years?
It was not dripping when I left, so hopefully it is now fixed.

We visited the National Trust Sheffield Park and Garden today. It was a nice drive getting there in glorious sunshine. We had a picnic lunch in the picnic area. It was a bit muddy by the gate to get in there though. After that we went into the gardens and had a walk around the lakes. The weather changed whilst we were there. It stayed dry but clouds started to gather so less sunshine. By the time we left for home, it was grey and overcast.

We are away in the Cvan for a few days, left home at 1.30 this afternoon and arrived on site just before 5. Easy tow down but nice clean caravan is now a shade of grey due to all the road salt lol. After setting up and having dinner we took a walk into town and had a couple of drinks in one of the local pubs . Not sure what our plans are for tomorrow we shall have to wait and see

We've got up to a rather wet morning. It was windy last night with the caravan rocking and then the rain started and is continuing now.
It's been a busy week at work. I was supposed to be on a day off on Tuesday but was called in because one of the other drivers was off sick. So I had to do four hours from 6 to 10. Then when I went in to do my 3 hours on Wednesday, from 5 to 8, I was asked to stay until 10. Nevetheless, I was allowed a day off yesterday hence our excursion to Sheffield Park and Gardens.

Nice day up to now in sunny Salford

Glorious sunny day, and the temperature has now reached 4 degrees.
I've been shopping at the best shop round here (Booths) to stock up for a Big Birthday Weekend. The shop staff were wonderfully helpful as I filled my trolley with easy food (cheese, ham, pates, salami etc), offering me samples to test.
The Robot vacuum cleaner (aka Marvin) did his job while I was out and there's currently no straw or worse on the floor (how long will that last?).
So, there's just time to flick a dusty around and scrub the kitchen table (must be clean for 14 of us to sit round) before the hordes arrive.

Hope you all have a lovely birthday gathering Goldie, best wishes to your OH for the big day.
Very cold and windy here with hail storms, the sun has come out but it's not much fun outside. I've got a few seedlings to pot on so will have to sort them soon.
Boiler serviced, all ok, would we like the Hive system installed to save money, no, but might think about it if anyone has done?! Our fuel rates are good so we've saved a lot from changing supplier. Another £130 is probably going to add to the costs?

The rain stopped and the sun came out for a while but now it's clouded over again. Working 5 to 8 this evening.

Lovely bright sunny day today, washer on the go and house work all done.
Fancied a couple of hours in the garden but OH's friend came round and sat talking for ages, so now don't have time to do any gardening as we have to go through to Dunblane to granddaughters school.
Half term starts today and she is flying down to Southampton from Edinburgh this teatime. First time she has flown down but she is going with one of her friends, who has done it a couple of times so is experienced
we just need to go through with a small flight bag for her rather than her big holdall, its only a week so not required. We will also pick up all her other clothes that will need to be washed, the school do most of the washing but there are items that need a bit more care so I do them for her.
Have a good weekend folks

Plans all changed for today as we had a phone call to say could we pick up our grandson from school as he isn't well. He is now laying on our settee with a blanket over him.

I have just dealt the death blow to our 10 year old Fiamma Zip.....I have cut the roof material off the front roller.
It is apparently possible to get a new roof bit, but it has to be specially ordered and brought in from Italy, so would no doubt be expensive.
So we have ordered an inexpensive alternative to try first, if we don't like it then we still have the option to order the new roof. The roller will be stashed in the loft meantime, and we will have to find somewhere to keep the big bag that holds the rest of the various bits.
At the same time, we went into the van and turned on some heating as it is going for service in 10 days and when it is so cold and damp outside the damp test can throw up false readings round the windows where there are metal fixing plates in the walls.
We had a couple of high readings this time last year, so dealer said to drop in sometime over summer to get it checked, and it turned out to be fine. So they have asked us to warm it up a bit this year before the service!
So cold outside, despite the sun, only 3 degrees, so the van will be using a lot of power.
