Very cold here, sun earlier but grey now.

We had snow overnight on Monday and it is still here, and now it has just started snowing again.

    Heating back on now.

Bright and sunny this morning, grey and light snow this afternoon.

Started looking for a decorator to come and paint the outside of the house, first one came this afternoon just waiting for a quote. Another 2 or 3 then we will decide who gets the pleasure wink last time it was done I did it but there is no way I'm doing it again, life is too short to be spent up ladders.

WN your OH isn't the only one with a list I have one too and its getting longer by the day wink if this weather carries on I'm not going to get the garden done before we jet off to Lanzarote, that will put my plans right out the windowfrown

Off to the Scottish caravan show tomorrow, will need to get another mortgage the price of parking there ยฃ8 what a rip off, thankfully we won tickets so saved money on the entry price, don't think we would have bothered going otherwise.

Must be a bus that goes past or to  there,  park out in Whiteinch, just off Dumbarton Road,  and dust off the bus pass!

My OH has a permanent list!

Today we have ticked off 2 things....sorting Christmas paper, ribbon etc..........and finding space for the  bookcase for OH's cookery books, as it had to be turfed out of the kitchen.

She has obtained long boxes that hold rolls of paper, and a pile of smaller boxes from Ikea, and is intent on organising everything.  We found a shelf that was not being used for much, so all the Christmas stuff is now stacked neatly up there.

With a bit of moving around of small tables, a suitable space for the bookcase has now been made in a corner of the landing not too far from the kitchen, and most of the books have found a home.  She has a lot of recipes not in books, so will sort through all those now and keep them in 2 magazine files.  Anything that does not fit will have to go!

Much tidier in the spare room now.

Next on the list is a rather more time consuming kitchen cupboards reorganisation.  surprised

    Now  there's  a  thought  !!

Would  it  be  possible,  strictly  on  the  QT  of  course,  for  club  members  to  arrange  a  Swap  Club whereby  peoples  of  a  certain  age  could  get  a  Bus  Pass  Swap  as  and  when  they  cross  the  national  borders  between  the  Scottish - Welsh - English  countries.surprised

Might  take  a  bit  of  thinking  about,  might  just  chat  to  one  of  our  other  members  for  clarification / advice,  Wonder  if  Merve  will  be  at  N E C ??  winkinnocent

DD lives out that side of Glasgow so I have asked for her suggestions.

She suggests parking in Scotstoun, just off Dumbarton Road in Duncan Avenue, Dunglass Avenue or Ormiston Avenue, they are on the north side of Dumbarton Road.  If there is an event on at the Scotstoun Arena there will be signs displayed and then you cannot park there, but there is also parking on the other side of Dumbarton Road.

Then take the number 2 bus towards town and get off at the Berkeley Street stop.  By then Dumbarton Road has become Argyle Street.  There is a Tesco express on the other side of the road just before the stop.

From there you cross the road and walk down to the Exhibition Centre Station and over the foot bridge and you are there.

However, a bit of an adventure, and the possibility of missing the stop as you are not familiar with the area, and getting lost.   Plus  she reckons bus + walk could take you 40 minutes each way.

She reckons that for ยฃ8 she would rather pay for the parking!  Especially if the weather is poor.

If you do decide to take the bus, the stop is just beyond Berkeley Street then you cross over and continue towards town till you  come to Minerva Street, which leads down to the station.  It is a fair bit to walk.

Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Expecting weather from the tropics to arrive this weekend, wet and humid ๐Ÿ˜ฒ, been rather lively up Fiji way but no, as yet, cyclones.

Taking advantage of our o grandchildren care day to do the washing, rain was forecast cloudy and windy but dry til now ๐Ÿ˜† and catch up on here before doing a walk around Hamilton Gardens acres and acres to explore some formal and enclosed,  Indian, Italian, Japanese, Chinese etc etc, rose garden which is huge and we've fallen in love with one called 'magnifiscent' plus wild areas, huge lake and a tea shop ๐Ÿ˜‰best of all completely free - well if you don't want to part take of the cafe offerings.

Street art, not graffiti,  is widespread here on boxes and walls. Artists are commissioned and even bus shelters get the treatment. Here are a couple of examples from New Plymouth.

The last photo I snapped as it amused me. It was on some fencing for the Gardens Arts Festival - but I wonder at its meaning. All other posters just had their name, logo, Web address etc.

Not a good day here......I'm waiting for our heating engineer to arrive to see if our combi boiler can be mended and brought back to life or if it's going to be a VERY expensive day ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ. The heating is OFF ๐Ÿ˜ฐโ„๏ธ So that he can work on the boiler so I'm sat trying to keep warm. The boiler is 12 years old so I'm not sure what to expect.

If you are with a big energy company and around a certain age, there is a posibility they will supply you with emergency heating

The lack of HW when a  combi breaks is the main reason why we would not have one.  Space heating is not a major problem as there are alternatives.

At 12 years old it has possibly come to the end of its life and is uneconomic to repair if a major fault,  they just don't make them like they used to!

JVB66 - We're lucky to still have the gas fire in the living room and the plinth heater in the kitchen so we can easily warm two rooms up. It's the rest of the house that relies on radiator heat and no shower. We can live without the radiators but no shower before going to work wouldn't be nice. It's just made us take an impromptu local CL holiday from tonight until Sunday and then we'll bring the caravan back home and park in on the front lawn. I've warned the neighbours about the caravan incase they think we've gone a bit mad when they see us having a cuppa in the caravan. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜„ The good news is the engineer has reshuffled his jobs and can start  the work next Thursday.

12 years its just a baby, ours was installed in 1979, 39 years old, and apart from a new electric timer, no problems.  Heating engineers advice is not to change it as modern boilers are not as reliable.

Day has warmed up a little, now 4C but due to wind feels a lot less.

Still trying to decide where to go this year
