Belated Happy Birthday Bakers2. How wonderful to be able to spend it by the beach in such lovely weather and then to have your grand-daughters singing to you in person instead of over the internet.
Glad you are back safe and sound Tammygirl. Pleased you didn't get the forecast snow. It is forecast for us this evening and overnight but I hope they have got it wrong. Just a light frost here this morning no-where near as severe as yesterdays.
We are going to the funeral of our friend's only grand-daughter today. It is going to be such a difficult day for her and her family.

We've just had a cup of tea and some cereal and we've got bacon and eggs cooking as I type this. Glorious sunshine here in Brighton this morning. The whole lounge area of our caravan is filled with the warm golden glow of the sun coming through our front window and the great thing is, that gusty wind has gone, so no more rock and roll of the caravan!

Rather you than me, Triky. I'm glad I no longer have to go down to a cold windy boatyard to work on a yacht. Mind you, I've a few enhancement jobs on the MH waiting for it to warm up a bit before starting them.

Sorry I missed your birthday Millie and hope Bakers2 enjoyed hers. We were at a funeral yesterday, someone my age. I know how difficult it will be for all of you to say goodbye to someone so much younger.
We have to visit one of our daughters today, at home ill and partner away working, the dog will also be pleased to see us so no doubt a walk will be on the cards for him. It is very cold here with a heavy frost, looks pretty but nicer to be inside rather than out.

I hope your daughter soon feels better brue. I am sure both she and the dog will be pleased to see you.

I spoke too soon, the wind gusts have started once again, more rock and roll! It's supposed to be the start of Spring in three weeks and two days! Spring Equinox another three weeks after that and a few days later the clocks go forward one hour for British Summer Time!

Looked out of the bedroom window when we returned from town this morning just to see what was on the bird feeders. Noticed a horrible looking mass of blood and gore lying underneath one of the feeders. Oh bother, I said, the Sparrowhawk has been at it or the local cat. Mentioned it to Mrs.WN who decided that, despite it being Suffragette Day, this was a man's job. I looked around for one but reluctantly found the 2 ladies of the house looking back at me
So, out I plod with wellies and shovel and gather up the remains. I knocked on the back door and when the 2 of them looked around gave them a really good close up view
. "Shall I put this piece of fallen red hedge in the Green Bin then?" Phew, all the little birds are safe.

Well we got the forecast snow overnight, got up to about an inch laying. Sun out now and a lovely blue sky still very cold though.
OH vanished half an hour ago with 'just popping to Bill's won't be a minute'
he's always gone for at least an hour.
Washing machine on and first load done, second going in once I get moving again. Off to have a massage shortly so OH had better not be much longer, as he is taking me then going and getting some shopping while I'm 'being done' speak of the devil and he's sure to come' OH now back home and chatting to next door neighbour, and they say women are gossips
MH, hope this afternoon isn't too upsetting.
WN, glad no birds involved in the incident.

We have a group of a dozen or more Gold Finches that come and feed on our Sunflower hearts feeder. They tend to cling onto the feeder and feast away whereas the Blue Tits are much more cautious, they take a seed and fly off into the bushes to eat it. I spend far too much time watching them!!!

Ambled off this A.M. to see the Elderly One and at about 10 am it started snowing - rather like white Scots Mist ( if our northern friends forgive me
) its capable of getting my top layer covered and its still falling but no sign of it thickening ** or staying !! Just another damp, very cold, 'orrible winter's day. Think I'll get a thermal keyboard for this P.C. !!
** I said & meant THICKENING -- no lithps 'ere

As expected it was a very emotional and moving occasion. So many of her lovely young friends there to see her off. At least the sun shone for her.

We took our daughter's dog out for a walk today whilst she recovers from a flu bug so she stayed inside in the warm. It made a change to walk round her locality, we did some food shopping for her too, ended up buying more stuff for us so not a cheap expedition.

Bit belated but hope you enjoyed your birthday Bakers2,
Thanks Nellie and TTDA re advice about Bromyard Downs, it's been on our list to visit for ages, looking forward to it now it's booked.
Sorry to read about your funeral Millie, very sad.
Been a busy couple of days, went to the pub with a friend last night, nice to catch up, he'd done us a favour and fitted the new tyres on the land rover for us.
Had a meeting with a nice chap about pensions today, interesting to find out about our options.
Very cold today too, but lovely sunshine so can't complain.

Thank you brue. We went out with friends this evening to our local Museum Society. The talk was about Thomas Cook and The Origins of Popular Tourism (their head office is here so they hold the archives). What an amazing man. He left school aged 10 and ended up leading world tourism. The speaker was excellent as well which makes such a difference. A good end to a sad day. It is trying to snow here now and is bitterly cold. Youngest son gave me a daylight lamp for my birthday which is now set up in the kitchen so I shall sit by it when I have my breakfast. I hope I shall be full of energy soon.

Good publicity too! Those cattle looked beautiful. Your grandson is a credit to you too. So confident in the show ring and in the interview😊
Amazing that your family have been associated with the Westmoreland show for all those years.

Farmers Country Showdown - series 1. (filmed September 2016, originally shown February 2017 and repeated yesterday).
Our programme was mainly about llamas, but we were included (and feature in the series titles)
Link to Iplayer - HERE.
Not as good as our Countryfile episode though!

Our Grandson was 14 this week - and to give him an insight into something other than cows, his dad bought him six Herdwwicks (from James Rebanks - author of The Shepherd's Life.
