Thinking about joining Camping and Caravan Club
I love the caravan club but i am all so thinking about joining the camping and caravan club has any one been a member of them

I think a large percentage of us are also members of C&CC.
In some ways it has advantages over CAMC but in others it’s not so good.
The big plus is that it gives you a far wider choice of sites.
Try it and see.

We are members of both.
There are advantages and disadvantages to each Club. For us, the main advantage of the C&CC is that you can book hardstandings. Advantage of the CAMC is that there are more sites to choose from in the CAMC (almost twice as many Club sites), the quality of the sites are generally better, and to have the option of full serviced pitches (I don't think the C&CC have them).
If you are members of both it gives you (together with non-club sites) a wider choice.

Although we have been members of the CMC for about 37 years we are also members of the C&CC but only for about 7 years. Its useful as they have sites where the CMC don't although sometimes they have sites next door to each other!!!

Absolutely right Peedee. Something I forgot to mention.
It also opens up possibilities for those interested in taking part in rallies. The CAMC tend ot organise rallies 'geographically' - according the centres. The C&CC also do more in terms of 'themed' or 'interest' meets, e.g fishing rallies, walking rallies etc.

I’ve been a member of both clubs since I started caravanning 8 years ago. Both club sites have high standards. Insurance for my caravan has always been cheaper with the C&CC.

Been with both decades as given the costs of this hobby the extra cost is well worth it for the greater choice of site options.
We over the decades to have migrated far more towards using 5 van sites, rallies and THS as the CMC's main sites, in particular, are not able to offer our longer type of stays involving weekends. C&CC somehow manage this more flexibly in our experience.
The biggest plus with the C&CC when I worked and did not know even on Friday morning with much certainty where I would be come Saturday was their rallying & THS system required no booking. Booking was a thing we could not do with any real probability of going. That flexibility has remained welcome into retirement, could not plan in working life and see no great asset to do so now, brilliant concept IMO.

So far this year we have booked several sites up till the end of May. Only one of those is with this club. The rest are private / 5 van / camping club which with the age discount, except for peak season results in a saving per night of about £5.... Not worth it I hear some say, well we do around 100 nights in a year so that's £500 per year difference.

Up to last year we have been members of both Camping Organisations. Both have their advantages and their disadvantages depending what you expect from a camping organisation. The CMC is formal and caters mainly for the older Caravanner who wants a peaceful holiday. The C&CC is informal and caters more for those who love the great outdoors and indulge in outdoor activity.
There is little to choose between the quality of the sites. The C&CC sites tend to be situated in the more picturesque areas of the countryside whereas the CMC sites tend to favour closeness to cities and large towns.
The CMC rallies are very structured and formal, whereas the C&CC rallies are laid back and informal even to the extent that on some, no advance booking is required, just turn up and you will be made welcome.
The choice is yours.

We are veteran members of the C&CC of some 40 years and a member of the CMC for 17 years.
Our main interest is rallying, and prefer the flexibility of not having to advance book them hence we do that with the C&CC, and primarily with the BCC, which is one of their special interest groups. BCC stands for British Caravanners Club. Other special interest groups are Folk Dancing, Boating, Photography and Mountain activities, to name some of them. The Club is divided geographically and when you join you are allocated to your area District Association and this is shown on your membership card. You are not restricted to your local DA you are free to go to any rally anywhere. In the monthly mag is a section called Out and About which lists all weekend, 5 day meets and Temporary Holiday Meets being held in the forthcoming month(s). Most of them do not require advance booking.
The Club sites are of the same standard, but you do have to pay a deposit for C&CC sites.
You do get an age concession rate with the C&CC
Both have a network of 5 van sites, but we have found that the CAMC are better because C&CC 5 van sites means 5 vans plus tents.
Both clubs offer other services, such as insurance and breakdown rescue.
You have nothing to lose by trying the C&CC, however be aware if you join online you do not get the sites handbook or the monthly mag by post

We are members of both. It does give you a better choice of sites and theirs are generally easier to book in at short notice probably due to them asking for deposits and keeping them if you cancel within 31 days. There is not a lot between them other than that but their sites tend to be maintained a bit less and they do allocate you a pitch on arrival, although if you do not like it they will change it.
Older members and families do get a better deal with the C&CC on site costs.
The services are comparable but their caravan insurance is far cheaper, near £150 for us but overseas and breakdown cover tends to be higher.
For those who think this clubs magazine is poor, I am afraid they need to look at the C&CC one to see how not to do it. In practice it may be down to the wider variety of campers they get.

We are with both clubs, but will be leaving the camping and caravanning club at the end of this years membership. We are only with them because of the caravan insurance. This year I think we will be moving to CAMC so no need for the 2nd membership.

We have only recently joined the C&CC and have just been away for a week with the MH.
First site C&CC at Moffat, good site, good facilities and of course we could book a H/S cheap too at just £15 with the oldies discount
Second site C&CC Keswick, again good site, good facilities and good price.
Third site C&MC Southport, good site good facilities.
All 3 sites were of the same standard, all had friendly wardens/managers. C&MC were the most expensive.
However the pitches with the C&MC are far bigger than with the C&CC, while this isn't a problem for us as MH with a caravan, car and awning the car had to be parked across the front of the pitch, which I know some don't like. I think it makes the site looked cramped.
We will carry on trying new and different sites but I can't see us keeping 2 memberships going as we don't often spend a lot of time in the UK.

We've always been members of both clubs, I think your post sums it up except we don't find the pitch allocation happens very often. The site managers show us where pitches are available and in normal conditions we select one we like, in fact contact with someone showing you round the site and explaining where things are etc can be quite a friendly start to a break. The site managers tend to be more visible generally.

Personally I find this a little bit of a myth. Their different MO on arrival might give that impression because you tend to spend more time with the site manager than you would with a CMC warden. However during a stay I find very little difference between the two Clubs on that score.

one of the best features that we use with C&CC is their comprehensive program of Temporary Holiday Site (THS) meets...
no booking, cheap as chips and meets all over the country....
