Practical Caravan magazine publishes in this years' (March 2018) edition, the findings of their Satisfaction survey of it's readers, visitors to it's website and members of the C&CC, with new and used caravan purchases.

Whether we like it or not, when it comes to purchasing a new caravan, the results clearly show that Adria, Eriba and Knaus are kicking our backsides.

"There's a big gulf between the three top Continental brands and the leading domestic manufacturer, with Coachman in fourth place"

It's a similar result in "pre-owned" caravans too, although here the gulf is not quite as wide.

It seems the old adage of "there's good & bad in every caravan" still rings true, but you're far less likely to have a problem with our Continental friends.

Yet another wake-up call Messers Swift, Bailey, Elddis & Lunar

And if anyone's looking for a good fixed bed Adria then I know someone who has one for sale - an Adora 2006 model, with Dorema awning, etc.

I do wonder if people that fill in these surveys have a point to prove? When we caravanned we had four Swift Group caravans over a 24 year period and they were all excellent. The very few issues we had were very minor and certainly didn't impact on our enjoyment of them.

I guess those who have purchased a new 'van in the last 12 months?

I too have had excellent caravans over the last 20 'odd' years, but am frankly alarmed at the amount of problems that the current manufacturers seem to have.

One thing is for sure, they need to up their game, because at the prices they want for their products, there shouldn't be ANY issues at all, minor or otherwise!
