Habitation checks and AWS

My motorhome is due for its first habitation check soon.  I went on the search tool for approved AWS work shops and found the dealer I bought it from is not on the list.  They must be approved by Eldiss as they have done warranty work on my under one year old van.  Is there any reason a dealership would not be on the list other than not passing they checks? If I go to an approved garage for the hab check and any problems are revealed tehy may not want to carry out warranty work on a van they didnt supply.

Perhaps your first action should be to contact Elddis and ask where you can take it.

I assume the list you refer to is the one on Elddis’ website.

You dealer may well have the same standards as those in the Approved Workshop Scheme but perhaps does not want to undertake work other than on those vehicles supplied by them so perhaps has decided not to join the scheme? I somehow doubt that Elddis would allow someone to do warranty work if they were not qualified to do so. Perhaps you need to ask your dealer this question?

I have contacted Eldiss but they havent replied yet, they def approve of my dealer because we have already have had warranty work done by them and they are listed as Eldiss approved.   I just thought it odd that a dealership wouldn't be AWS approved  and wondered why. The other large dealer in my area is.  Its not that they dont want to do warranty work on vans not purchased from them (although mine was) as they advertise they do.

I did ask the dealer the question and he said he hadn't heard of the scheme and that they may not need to be in it as they are main Elddis dealers

It's inconceivable that the Workshop Manager at a "proper" Elddis dealer hasn't heard of the Approved Workshop scheme, so I do wonder who you actually spoke to.......

But if they are servicing your van and doing warranty work, do you need to worry....?

If it is a particular issue for you, I would arrange to speak to the actual Workshop Manager or Dealer Principal, but you may be worrying unnecessarily....?

Perhaps the dealer sees no benefit in the scheme. It may be hitting the standards consistently without the need for independent  inspections.

What the scheme demonstrates is whether the workshop followed certain procedures. The procedures the scheme focuses on are important.

However, apart from the 'customer review' question of, "Was the work completed on time?", AWS does not ask the customer whether the dealer fixed/serviced your van which is the whole point of going to the workshop.
