Whichever Vet any of you use please could you post details such as address, price you paid, if English spoken and would you recommend the Vet to others.

With that information I can add the Vet to the Map and, hopefully, help others who travel to France and beyond.

    Hi,

September 2017 and we visted Macon north of Lyon - Replonges.

    NO CHARGE (again !)

Copy Details from web site link :-

    Dr J M Gilbert
    478 Route de Madelieine (D1079)
    Tel - 03 85 31 07 78
    Speaks good English
Plenty of space to park MH
No charge (2013) - used own tablet
    46.300377, 4.876058

Update September 2017. Not very easy to find - suggest a check of address and also road name as sat nav struggled. 10 minutes drive from the, fine for a stopover or longer, Macon Municipal site. Vet used to receiving phone calls from lost British and speaks English.

Made appointment prior, smart new roadside clinic with good parking. NO CHARGE ! Yes free and after asking again just 3.40 euros for the worming tablet. Passport stamped up. Pleasant staff but it cant last at this price if everyone goes. Suggest charity donation or a box of chocs for reception. Think the Vet may consider the passport check a stupid rip off who knows ?

    Thanks for the updated information.

The fact that I'd spelt the name of the road incorrectly doesn't help anyone find it – I've altered it now.

Have added extra information about driving to the Vet – hope this helps.

And added your suggestion about donation or chocs.

    Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

ellemae - many thanks for the information - Anizy Vet added to Map.

Did you have to make an appointment, or just walk in, and did the Vet or receptionist speak good or passable English?

I've not added the Bayeax Vet but may do later as a warning rather than a recommendation.

We didnt make an appointment but the campsite did offer to phone for us. We waited around 20 minutes. We showed the receptionist the passport and got by. The vet spoke limited english but was charming.

Thanks for that - I'll add the appointment info.

Many people ask if the Vet speaks English and seem to be reassured if they do - also added.

farmhouse - are you saying he didn't give your dog the tablet but still signed the Pet Passport to say he had administered it?

How did you give the dog the tablet if he couldn't?

Did he examine your dog, although strictly speaking it isn't obligatory to do so, and not find the fleas while in France?

As i said he did not give the tablet to the dog, He put it in a bag. When we got back to the caravan we gave it to the dog with a bit of ham.

Part of the dog passport requires the examination of the dog to ensure they are fit to travel. The vet did sign the passport without him giving the tablet to the dog. At this stage i was gust glad to get out of there.

    Chalon en Champagne October 2017

    Alain Roy at

Clinique Veterinaire De La Croix Dampierre

    135 rue des vieilles postes

    51470 Saint Memmie

    03 26 65 62 43

Although Mr Roy speaks a fair amount of English, as far as I can tell non of the reception staff do. We had booked the municipal site at Chalon via email and asked them to make the booking for us which they did.

    Cost €45.90 (37.5 consultation 8.40 for tablet & 7.65 TVA)

Unfortunately, our dog (ESS) slashed her chin on, we think a broken bottle, at a roadside picnic site where we had stopped for lunch about an hour from Chalon so drove straight there, they saw us very quickly 5 hours and 6 stitches latter we picked up Lily - bill €139.50 but because of the anaesthetic they could not administer the worming tablets until the following day so ended up having to pay 2 consultation fees. No complaint as service and care was very good

When we've used a vet in Chalons-en-champagne we have used Clinique Vétérinaire Mont Héry.  We were given the option of an injection instead of the tablet.  A little more expensive but Lizzie isn't good with tablets.  She even has the knack of fishing them out of a piece of cheese or ham!! 😊

I booked myself by email some months in advance.

I really can't remember how much.  We used them in 2016 and 2014.  In 2014 the vet gave us the injection option.  In 2016 it was a different 'partner' who managed to get her to swallow the tablet.  It was between 40-49 €.  I know it was somewhere in the 40's.  The vets seem fine to me, but as we've only been over the twice with the dog, they are the only ones who I have dealt with in France.  They knew exactly what to do with the vet passport.

    F-16150 Chabanais.
Messrs. Bonnat, Celle & Cremoux. Clinique Vétérinaire Chabanais.
    Web: www.veterinaire-chabanais.com

Two minutes off the main N141 Angoulême-Limoges.

    Emergencies and appointments same telephone number: +33/0 5 45 89 05 27.

Appointments bookable by phone or website contact form but routine matters (such as exam & anti-worm for passport) can be accommodated during walk-in sessions from 14h daily - no appointment needed. Probably wise to book ahead if LouLou is due a rabies jab.

Very easy to find and park, in square opposite railway station house. Access through Avenue de la Gare into Place de la Gare (surprisingly enough) where there is ample space to park/turn around even with caravan or large motorhome.

English speaking (why would you, you're in France?) with full grasp of Pet Passport requirements.

Not cheap (exam + 2 x Drontal = €48) but for us worth paying a little extra for ease of access and parking, prompt attention, sense-of-humour and an affection for 'our' breed of dog (BSD Terv.).

We took our 2 dogs to the Santoria Clinic at 10 rue des Vases, 14600 Honfleur for their wormers prior to travelling back to the UK.  We won't go there again.  The bill was 107.36 euros!!!  English was spoken(ish) by the vet and we made an appt for the next day.  The vet refused to use the Milbemax tablets I provided, saying they had to use Drontal instead - regulations apparently, altho I have never heard this before.  We were charged two consultation fees of 41 euros each and 25 euros for the two Drontal tablets.  The examination seemed to be no more than a cursory glance to ensure both dogs were still breathing.

In the past we have been to vets in Larochette (Luxembourg), Duclair and St Quentin (France) and been happy with everything.

The vet in Larochette was Guerit Arlette, rue du Gymnase, and they charged 22 euros for the consultation and 13 euros for the wormer tablet (Easter 2017).  To make the appt we managed to make a phone call with odd bits of French and English on both sides.

In 2010 a modern vet practice in Duclair (on the Seine) charged 42 euros for one dog (it was in the days when you not only had to have wormers, but flea treatment also).  English OK and practice seemed efficient.  Good exam of dog and travel dates checked to comply with Pet Passport regs.

In 2011 we took one dog to Clinique Veterinaire d’Isle at 32 rue Guise, St Quentin, where we got a very thorough examination, chip checked etc, and the bill came to 45 euros (again, for wormer and flea treatment).

By 2013 we were being charged only 67 euros for two dogs at the same vet's.  The vet was very friendly, did a thorough exam of the dogs and spoke good English.

Senior - thanks for all that information.

We called at the Honfleur Vet last week and were quoted - Appointment - €41.56, Tablet - €12.53 each + €4.53 ( no idea what that was for but could be tax) - Total €58.62.

We declined the offer to make an appointment and went elsewhere.

It does say on the Map that this Vet is overpriced and I have added my recent price quote to help others avoid this Vet.

I'll add the recent Vet you mention at Larochette asap and if you know of any others to use, or avoid, please let me know.

Keith and Margaret, I should have said the vet Guerit Arlette was in Diekirch, not Larochette.  WE were in Larochette, not the vet!  Now you see why my name is SeniorMoments embarassed  They already have an entry on your map (which is brilliant BTW).

There is parking round the back of the practice and metered parking right outside, but we didn't bother paying.  We made appts in advance, which is probably the best thing to do, as there doesn't seem to be a receptionist, only a vet, and I got the impression the clinic did not open full-time.

The clinic we went to in Duclair was Clinique Vétérinaire de Duclair, 34 Rue Clarin Mustad, 76480 Duclair.  Very light and modern (see photo), with reception and vet staff.  According to their website they are now charging 31 euros for a consultation, which is less than our own vet in the UK.

Like all the other vets we've been to in France, they were well versed in Pet Passport requirements (unlike our own UK practice, which couldn't actually provide our last passport because the only vet who had the training in it had left - we had to go to a different practice!).

    Perrochon & Lebeau

    SCP de Vetinaires

    13 Avenue des Tilleuls

    86450 PLEUMARTIN

    5th July 2017.

Everything done correctly and efficiently. The dog loved the vet he even kissed her.

    Total cost 41 euro.

Can't comment about the level of English spoken as I speak French. She did appear to be able to communicate in English. I would return there without reservation. The camp site recommended them and made the appointment for us.

Whilst not a current dog owner I am wondering if people with dogs only visit France.

There was a thread started recently in Overseas section asking if anyone knew of vets in Zaragoza. P!us plenty of dog owners must return from Netherlands and Germany etc.

Surely an important and valuable thread such as this should be widened to include any part of Europe? Just a thought (which you are free to ignore if you wish).

All European Vets who are recommended are included, there is one recommended as far away as Crete, but it's up to people who have used Vets for the Pet Passport scheme to let me know before I can add them to the Map.

Do you know if the Member found a Vet in Zaragoza - or could you give me a link to the thread ?
