So, what 4 staples could you not do without, or even 4 fully integrated food and drink items?

For me it would be:

Potatoes

Onions

Milk (for butter and cheese making)

Coffee.

Mrs.WN would change the potatoes for Rice and go straight to the cheese.

(How they laughed - well the first 50 times they heard it anyway. wink)

I am probably with you Goldie at the moment, if it was all I had to survive on........

However, health implications aside my top four would be

pasta, cheese, various veg, various fruit. Or is this cheating?

Not cheating at all, Ttda. I had thought about putting "any fruit" in but my love/addiction to coffee won out.
