Happy New Year, David!
I've been up all night to see the New Year in! I watched the Nile Rodgers and Chic show on BBC1 followed by the New Years Eve fireworks over the Thames Embankment, spectacular display! At the same time we had live entertainment from our caravan window of the firework display over the harbour, here in Bristol Baltic Wharf! Then more Nile Rodgers and Chic on BBC1. When that was over, I switched channels to BBC2 for the remainder of Jools Annual Hootenanny and saw Ed Sheeran perform his song Perfect live on stage. All in all a perfect night of entertainment!
Once again, Happy New Year to all and hope that 2018 will make all your dreams come true!

Just trying to get Goldie to see the light (especially when the sky is all lit up, no pun intended)!

Yes, I'm still here at Baltic Wharf, heddlo. Why go out in storm Dylan and get wet from heavy showers when I can get just as good entertainment on the tv and from my caravan window whilst sitting in warmth and comfort?

Do you mean EV, Tammygirl? I'm sure when it's needed, we'll find a way. Perhaps we may need to invest in a power generator but not yet. Let's wait until delivery of the Smart Electric and then decide!

Our caravanning friends who came over for lunch on 28th had also succumbed to the virus. They both had very bad colds but had fully recovered from them by the time we arrived here.

Today is Monday and I'm due back at work on Friday, so only a few days holiday left!
We'll be taking the caravan to the dealer servicing in Chipping Sodbury on 4th. Not all of the work is under warranty though. Luckily, Tesco Bank increased the credit limit on my credit card, so extra funds are available to foot the bill and extra points to go with it!
It will depend on what time they finish the work as to whether we'll get back to Lancing on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. If it gets dark, I'll stop overnight at the services and wait until the morning daylight to arrive so that we have the benefit of daylight to pitch the caravan and set up the awning etc.

Happy New Year everyone. Let's hope 2018 will be a good one!
Best of luck if you're partaking in a "dry January" - as for me, well I'm off to the Watering Hole on Perranporth beach shortly for the first pint (s) of Tribute of the year.
Catch up later!

That will make it a good start for your New Year, Chris! Cheers!

Sister in law and husband intended to call in on their way back from Padstow but they seem to have abandoned that idea due to our present state of health..... Looks like we're in for some storms tomorrow, I walked outside for a few minutes, I'm lacking fresh air. Enjoy you day everyone.

The weather is improving here. The rain has stopped and there's patches of blue sky interspersed with white cloud so turning into fair weather.
I've just been looking out of the front window of our caravan and I can see two yachts sailing up and down in the harbour. One has a red sail. How lovely to be on a club site with such a relaxing view!

Yes I understand the approach lane to lancing fruit farm can be a bit, bumpy
Ps why did you need an increase in your credit card limit if you pay off the balance each month, as that can be the only reason you get "interest free"as you stated in an earlier post

I need to keep enough money available within my credit limit to pay the remaining deposit on the new Smart Electric which will be due on delivery approx. £2800. I didn't ask for it, Tesco Bank offered it in their Christmas message to me and I accepted the offer. Also, I don't need to pay off the balance each month to get interest free credit. I have the option of just making the minimum payment each month to qualify me for interest free credit.

Barclaycard just put up the limit on one of my cards by 50%, I let it go through though have no intention of using any of it.
They also keep pestering us to do balance transfers. Those letters go straight into the shredder.
When I retired we looked at how much credit we had available to us via all our cards, it came to over £50k, which was far too much! So we got rid of the cards we rarely used and cut the limit on the barclaycards to 25% of what they were so we could take out new, advantageous, cards if we wished, such as an interest free card.
I think getting interest free deals could well become more difficult in future as interest rates edge up. From what I have read, debt of this type in UK is increasing rapidly and the banks do not seem to be doing much to contain borrowing with the way they offer increased credit limits, loans etc.
According to sites like MSE, many people are only 2 months, or less, from "financial disaster", as in their borrowing is so high that if they lose part of their income they would be unable to service their debts.

First dog walk of the New Year for us and our furry friends today! Sunny and dry here, not particularly cold either, so a bonus.Plans for one of our home made special meals later, calorie heavy, but a treat! Have a good day one and all, wherever you may be! HNY!

Happy new year everybody.
It's just gone very dark here and it's only 13.45. Guess we are in for a bit of weather. We'll be off to a New Year's day family party in a neighbouring town at around 16.00 hrs. We are lucky to be getting a lift as I don't think the alcohol from new year has completely cleared yet.

Well that's over and done with for another year I guess. I had thought about taking the decorations down but can't be bothered
had thought of going for a walk.. but its now raining.. so won't being doing that
We were also thinking of going for a pub meal earlier but couldn't be bothered
.......Do you ever gets those days when you wear yourself out just thinking about what you could do but end up doing nothing....It seems we have one of those days.
Hope you all had a good New Years Eve and Happy New year to you and yours

The neighbours apparently had some fireworks go off last night, so Mrs.WN tells me. Usually a dog barking 3 miles away is enough to wake me up but I'd had a bad night on Saturday so was lacking in shut eye. Feel miles better after a good 10 hours.
Bounced out of bed and off for a walk, unfortunately when passing the pub it was still closed.
Have completed tidying up the filing cabinet and going through all of the files and lots and lots of shredding. Made me cry when I was looking at the interest rates that we were getting only 5 years ago, all of that money I'm not getting now!
Still I now have 6 black bin bags to take to the tip this week.
So isn't about time you lot started Spring cleaning?

Well it was sunny and dry, but freezing and blowing a gale down on the beach - but needs must etc etc.
So dry January lasted a little over 12 hours. It was packed inside the Watering Hole but I managed to find a quiet spot outside for the first pint of 2018.
Cheers, everyone!

I don't have that much available credit, Kj. Total available to me even with the increased amount is £20,000 including overdraft facilities and credit cards combined of revolving credit. The outstanding balance on my Smart car PCP is £9800. So total of just below £30,000. Credit reference agencies recommend keeping total borrowing below £30,000 to maintain excellent credit rating. The minimum payments are covered by direct debit but I can and do pay extra from time to time during periods when my outgoings are less.

This afternoon we went shopping at Tesco Extra. We fillled the Shogun with diesel at the pfs and then bought a few items of groceries that we had run out of such as some dips to go with the tortillas that I have with my drink in the evening. Then we have roast beef and yorkshire pudding for dinner tonight, gravy, English mustard and horseradish sauce, roast potatoes and veg. We still have some Christmas pudding leftover, plenty to keep us going!
I paid for the diesel using my Tesco debit card so the £73 spend will get me another 146 points to add to this quarters vouchers. Then another £13 spend in the store also paid by Tesco debit card for another 26 points. Total 172 points earned today! Can't be bad! So a nice drink and nibbles to enjoy the first day of the New Year tonight followed by a lovely home-cooked meal!

Most envious M, guess you are down Cornwall? Don't think our pair would have been up to a blow down the beach. Nearly dark here now, stove is lit, lights are on, pooches are snoozin', meal is cooking, we are a chillin'.......
Had a bit of good news about a relative as well, saved over £100 on renewing insurance for our old Jeep, so all in all, 2018 so far has been excellent!
