Absolutely glorious here, although sun is low in sky which makes driving a bit of a pain. I have gone from a fur coat (faux!) to a long sleeved t shirt in just a few days! Will be nice for walking if it stays like this over Xmas week. Central heating off yesterday, and didn't light stove until teatime. More present deliveries today, a nice dog walk, and then I shall lay table for Xmas Day. laughing

It’s 11c here in East Yorks, sunny with a lot of birdsong in the meadow. Very Spring like. I too prefer the frosty days in December👍🏻

I suppose once the race for points finished on this forum, Tesco points were the only option left wink

Couldn't face washing the filthy car so paid to have it done, it will be back to square one in a few days but for now its looking decent again. Dry and 11 degrees forecast for Xmas day so a nice long walk with the dog is planned in for the afternoon.

Go later, much more civilised. Saturdays are a supermarket nightmare any time of year.

PS......they are only closed one day!wink

What sites/area do you have featured in your mag?  Are they still doing these regional versions?

I am thinking they are as we keep getting features on Scotland.

Having lived here since 1970, I know Scotland, features on other, non local, areas would be far more interesting IMO

But using a Tesco debit card means spending money from a Tesco bank account, an account that otherwise pays me 3% interest.

I find anyway these days that there are not a lot of things to spend the points on that are actually of interest to us.

And as our Tesco store is fairly small, and no fuel station, we shop more elsewhere these days.

When on holiday, we just go to the nearest supermarket, would not make a special journey to a particular store unless we had some big discount vouchers to use.  Even then it most likely would not be sensible to go far out of our way.

We had a Waitrose open here 2 years back,  OH reckons  both Tesco and M&S are much less busy since then.   Waitrose send us 20% off vouchers quite often.  Combine that with the Pick Your Own Offers and any multiple buys or BOGOFs, and consider the quality of the food,  and it becomes an attractive proposition.

With a big freezer available, we can stock up when things are on offer.

Wow lucky folk getting to see the sun. How lucky are you? I agree it's unseasonably warm,  9.4c here, breezy and grey. Not that affects tackling a good clean through 😉. Our magazine has still not arrived we're usually a week behind others who post on here, so it'll be part of the catch up heap in the spring I expect.

We are now sorted with present/card deliveries, shopping and visiting duties. Once the cleaning is finished - just downstairs to go 😉 we begin our chillin 😆

Merry Christmas to all home or away.

I have to pay interest to Tesco Bank because I'm usually overdrawn but within the agreed overdraft limit. However, I get more money in vouchers than I am charged in overdraft interest, which means a profit for me!

The turkey has landed, so even if I only cook one thing we won’t go hungry. The giblets and bits of veg are in the Aga bottom oven making a tasty stock for gravy.

I just need to stir myself and marzipan the cake. No icing as I don’t like it and after 46 years last year I ecercised the cook’s prerogative and left it off.

Its been miserably foggy/misty/raining for days now. I’m glad I don’t have to go out, but sorry for husband, son and grandson who have to don waterproofs to work.

P.S. is it worth being in debt just to accrue points?

Yes, our local one, just a 5 minute walk, is Lidl, Aldi we have to drive to, there are 2 about 3 miles away or less.

OH does not like me to go there on my own as I keep buying interesting tools!  embarassed

We get points on all shopping, at Waitrose we can use our Partnership card, at M&S their card, and anywhere else we use Tesco CC or, more often our Barclaycards as they also get points.

Just to ring the changes did the last bit if shopping in Morrisons this morning,  it's walkable from  home 😉

We then went to pick up our order from the farm shop, easy peasy,  chap at the door took name, said it will be waiting at the till, walked through picked up a few other bits, as you do 😄paid and left.

Both cars had their Christmas pressy of a wash this afternoon too.

The last few mornings I've spotted what I thought was a Buzzard when out with the dog , it's only just starting to get light but I could see it sitting right at the top of the tree . We've been out this afternoon with binoculars and camera, and sure enough it's a Buzzard totally oblivious to the traffic and people. We were treated to a great "fly past". Got a few photos so dead chuffed.☺ It seems quite at home, even next to a housing estate in town.😯

Now waiting for youngest son to arrive.

We're waiting for the youngest grandson to arrive for an overnight stop, can't imagine how wound up he'll be, have had to hide a few Christmas things from his eagle eyes. wink

Nice to see the buzzard so close by Helen, I like this time of the year for spotting things, good clear views. Just had a look in the garden and some hellebores are starting to emerge, dark red ones, so they blend in a bit but I'll cut the big leaves off in a couple of days.

OH did a manic last shop at M&S this morning, to pick up a timed order but many had ignored the timings and apparently there was mayhem with a huge queue and flustered staff. OH was worried about getting a parking ticket as he thought an hour would be enough. He's been good doing the last minute shopping, I mustn't complain. smile

Forget your supermarkets, all my shopping has been done locally, I may not be getting points towards vouchers, but I have had the satisfaction of putting money into the local businesses who support local producers, not some fat cat living abroad.
