Are we doomed?

DK, Hello David, There's nothing a Club member of staff can say on here about changes to site booking procedures - however disappointed people may be - any changes will wend their way from a proposal on a committee agenda and then on to the board before a decision is made.....and then it will be announced.

When Keir Starmer, the current shadow secretary for Brexit, was head of the CPS, he had a blog on the internal CPS net. Perhaps the DG of the CAMC would like to do something similar. Keeping us in touch with thinking at the top. They could make it a member benifit by having to be logged in to access it.

Hi everyone,
With regards to the booking system, we are looking at ways we can improve the booking system next year based on all the feedback we have received from members over the past few years, including on Club Together. As soon as I have more information to share I will keep you all informed on Club Together.

With regards to Club News, I will forward your feedback to the Digital team.
If it helps I can start discussions for each latest news item (linking back to the full article) so people can share their thoughts. I'm also looking to start discussions on key features from the magazine article so we can continue the conversation.

Thankyou, Rowena.
We members should not need to discover items such as the club looking at the booking system from a third party commercial magazine or website. I trust the club will not treat us in such a way again. It was insulting to the membership. Disgraceful!
As for linking to news and magazine articles on the forum, that’s good and should have been happening for years. It’s called being proactive and is what many good forums do.
However, we can now look forward to updates regarding any changes to the booking system and to links to news items etc with associated discussions. Thanks for getting that in place. It could help improve the forum on many levels whilst being of use and interest to members.
Why not start, or rename, a section of the forum for Club News?

That would be good Rowena, just something like this will perhaps reach a few more members, get some conversations flowing on CT. Appreciate you have other things to do as well, so just regular links would be good. Sometimes things do need a bit of digging for to find out what is going on, but this should help.

Don't assume you're unique, K. Many of us don’t use FB. My OP is from the standpoint of everything swinging away from CT, or didn’t that fact register?
Will you be rejoining this year?

never had a Facetwitt account either

I 'Do' Facebook (and to a much lesser extent Twitter), but personally use each system in a different way. I very rarely use Facebook for 'Caravan And Motorhome Club' contact - CT being my preferred access. For me FB is primarily for keeping in contact with family and friends. Twitter, I tend to use for wider musical/choral connections.
There are certainly no plans to ditch CT, and I know Rowena and Graham see it as yet another way of keeping in contact with members and other caravanners/ motorhomers. I know there are a proportion of people on here who do not use Facebook or other forms of social media and who would miss CT would it not be here. I think the Club is trying to provide different methods of 'social media' for it's members so as to reach as many people as possible. In making different avenues of contact open for people perhaps it has to divide its rescources? The Club are certainly committed to keeping CT as one of those avenues.

I think you'll find the official view differs in the recent CAMC interview below.
It is quite clear that The Club invest heavily in listening to their members, how can members communicate with you so they are heard?
It's really important for us to listen to our members to hear about what they want and need from us. We have our Club Together forum with over 400k registered users, our social platforms are a great way for members and future members to interact with us, we carry out regular research and surveys with our members to hear from them - first-hand - about their views. Our Magazine is also a great source of information for members. And, most importantly, we act upon this information we receive.

I think you’re fairly new to CT, Via. Words and deeds are two different things and most of us know not to believe all that we read. Again, though, has that interview been published on this site? Maybe it has but I’ve not seen it.
It's noticeable, though, that CT users have been kept updated with some site info since this thread started.

TW - I just thought it was an interesting juxtaposition to the comments on this thread. Coming from the Head of Communications infers that it is factual, which it may be. As for 400K plus registered users .....now is that a user or someone who is just registered?
I've been a registered user for several years reading threads but only recently an active user.

I think it is more like 40 users out of the 40k registered.
But I could be wrong, it may be less!

I think the problem is that staff reply, and then the information you've been given in that reply seems to be at odds with 'real information'. For example there is a thread about Red Pennant. Rowena has replied to suggest that the 'Home to Home' condition of the policy can be varied if you want to start cover from the day you leave the UK. But then someone speaking to the Red Pennant team was told categorically that this is not the case.
'Reading' a thread obviously isn't counted in 'activity' as the number of views. Threads often have more posts than views!! This thread, for example, has 79 posts, but only 48 views! So it doesn't matter how many people are reading, unless new topics are started it might appear that there is little activity.
So, anyone got any ideas for new topics????

New topics to new posters can be old topics to the forums kernel of residents. They often get a terse response or other inane comments which could put them off. It would be better to kindly point out where the info is and encourage new posters.

Isn’t that what we do? I often post links to other threads.
The object of this thread wasn’t actually to try to generate more posters and threads but was an attempt to highlight the somewhat shoddy way the forum and its users is treated by the club. I won’t repeat myself but it’s all in my OP.

If anybody thinks that one organisation is treating them in a shoddy way - Just walk away and use another.--It's called consumer choice.. Nobody is being forced to use this particular forum. There is a great number of other discussion forums.------This forum suits many people who do their best to support it, warts and all. It may not suit everybody, so those people don't need to stay here.

It’s called standing up for everyone, K.
Is that why you took a leave of absence for a few months last year?

I did once start a new thread - but then I could not find it again!

Someone’s asking for a slap.

You can't be suggesting it's going to the dogs.
