Weekend one-nighters

In support of the OP, my take on it is that if so many are missing out booking for a full weekend because some selfish people are block booking on day one with no intention of attending, surely in these days of t'internet the club could approach those that do book sites on day one and not turn up so many times should be approached and advised the club and it's members are losing out.
I in the past have tried to book a weekend at Fineshade to be told Friday was booked full and joined a " cancelled " queue and thankfully the wardens telephoned me on the Thursday evening.
Happy caravanning.

No, stops long sayers who pay more to the club. About time the club held a % back for week long bookers

yes you will get a letter/email if you don't show or cancel with 72 hours and three (is it?) such occurrences will mean you lose all future booking and a possible ban. The club did once state how many members had been dealt with in this manner but I can't remember the exact number but it was low.

So booking a single night to break up a long trip and then moving to another site for 2 weeks pays less to the club than somebody just book 1 week🙄

Season of goodwill and all that.

'Twern't me, honest guv.
Haven't booked any sites or tried to. Feel left out😓. If by any chance I need to stay on one I'll try to book nearer the time but will probably find a CL first.
Even managed to get into a HP site this year just by telephoning site for cancellations near to arrival date. I do feel sorry though for those who work and want popular sites for their main holidays but can't access website due to work commitments. Maybe a weekend day for frenzy day would have been more equal but as I say it doesn't matter to me, for which I am grateful.

On our tours wecan spend seven or more consecutive nights on club sites, not on the same site mind, this tour may including single overnight stops too. Now most of us join the club as it is a network of sites which is a particular advantage over many other providers.

People work at weekends, too.
No one day will suit everyone so the present system is as equal as it gets unless rolling bookings are introduced.

Yes, we live in a 24-7-52 society these days. How we relate to this may change on occasions as we travel through our lives. I know it has for us. I guess in the big scheme of things it would be daft commercially to loose sight of this. Some however just wish the system would cater for what is right for them, for their current situation now!

I would like to know how people have such a personal insight into how Club sites are booked, beyond their own bookings. Logic would suggest that many bookings are made for the weekend as those that are at work during the week might well want to get away for the weekend which might explain why sites tend to get booked at at weekends or is that flying in the face of logic? Likewise the supposed problem of odd days not being available at weekends is, I suspect, down to members who spend longer stays on site and perhaps leave on a Saturday which obviously puts pressure on the Friday availability. If they all departed on a Sunday we probably wouldn't be having this conversation? Therefore it might not be people staying for just one night that causes this issue. As we all know there is no easy answer to all these questions because as soon as you start to play around with the system to solve one problem you are likely to disenfranchise other members. I feel I am neutral in this discussion as I have not even started to make bookings for next year or even thinking about it. I appreciate being retired makes that option slightly easier but it doesn't prevent me booking sites I want but I have to have degree of flexibility that working members don't have.

Wrong again W&J, what's to say that those who only book one night haven't booked a long stay at another site and are using the single night a stop off en-route?

Non members can check availability on line , but I think they can only make a booking by phone , something to do with the extra non member supplement payment (£12 per night )👍

No case to answer.
You have a good day now.

Hi EasyT

Just for the record, I have not booked anything. In fact, I didn't even try.
Am I alone?

They think it's all over, it is now! Well, bar the shouting of a very small percentage of the membership I suspect who just could not get exactly what they wanted and this concerning only on a couple or three sites by all accounts. Doesn't warrant changing the system in my opinion, life is like that and at least the present system is as fair as possible and as transparent as possible. Can't any another system pleasing everyone all the time despite what some may believe.
