is the Club about touring or static holidays?
Reading the latest magazine I was annoyed to read an AGM comment that motorhomes are causing problems because they stay on a site for a few nights and spoil the opportunity for a week's booking.
Personally all the people dashing to book in December for next year spoil my opportunity for going away on a whim and touring, stopping off for a few nights then moving on to pastures new.

There are many of us who spend several if not many consecutive nights on C&MC sites, just not on the same site. That is one advantage to joining this 'club', they don't insist on a minimum number of nights on one site! Long may the differences between club and the commercials exist! It's a network of touring venues not one site we join!

I'm sorry I don't understand your statement that Motorhomes or the people that use them are causing problems & spoiling other members bookings.
ALL members are entitled to book & stay whatever number of nights they like , there is no minimum nights booking limit with this club , I think you need to read the club's terms & conditions regarding bookings .
As for BOOKING DAY on December 6 , that's for ALL the membership to book their holiday choices for next year ....end of .
It's done on a first come first served system , which is fair for all members including you .👍

The actual quote, which was a question from the floor by a Mr Sheppard was that he ‘ Observed that if motorhomers were staying for shorter periods, this could disadvantage touring caravanners (in terms of pitch availability), who wanted to stay for longer periods.’

I think the reply I gave is still relevant to what the OP referred too , I can understand how I may have misread it .
The no minimum nights that can be booked by any member will i agree could inconvenience some members at some point wanting to book more than 7 nights at one site , but that's the same for us all.
No offence was intended ..👍

intersting that 'Mr Sheppard' referred to disadvantaging 'touring' caravanners when referring to to a MHer who seemed (to me) to be actually 'touring' when compared to his 'stay for longer periods'

It’ll be someone who probably doesn’t like the name change

But isn't it simply all down to club sites being popular with both types of outfit? If sites weren't full(ish) there would be no problem about who stays longer?
It;s an interesting statistic which outfit stays longer but like Metheven, I've never been 'disadvantaged' at all and wouldn't even waste any time worrying about it. You try and book and either you get in or not, if you can't then someone got in before you, as Sargent major Williams would say, oh dear, how sad, never mind and again I'm not really bothered who/what it was. Just try somewhere else.

As a touring caravanner who probably only stays 2 or 3 nights on club sites I must beg forgiveness for any club members that I inconvenience. On the other hand on the three club sites I stay at this year there were plenty of empty pitches so where’s the problem

Perhaps I should attend the AGM and complain about those members (both caravanners and motorhomers, for balance) who book sites for a week or more as they often prevent me booking my 2/3/4 days trips

We now tend to stay about 3 or 4 nights maximum on any one site. When we had a caravan we tended to stay 5 or 6 then move on. We have always had the urge to move on to pastures new and rarely stayed for a week on any site ever, well not since we moved on from a tent. Don't like being in any one place too long as its easy to move if you travel light.

Its obviously someone who can't get the weekends with their hols on a particular site. They ignore the fact weekends are booked in four ways:
separately
at the beginning of hols
at the end of hols
beginning and end of hols for workers that like to get the most out of their holiday allowance
I'm amazed there's any weekends left to book!!!

the subject is just another example of the rivalry between Tuggers and Motorhomers among the CMC customers.
Why !!! .------ We all enjoy our holidays in our own way. It's time that caravanners accepted that motorhomes are here to stay.

very good point, also add in my (now) preferred stay of midweek to midweek.

That's a classic example of "fake news", surely, K?
One question at the AGM, along with a scattering of critical comments (in both directions) on CT doesn't add up to anything like serious rivary in my book! On site at least, everyone gets along just fine, whatever their choice of outfit!
We'd be more than happy to have you pitched up next to our van in your MH!

We haven't changed our style of touring in many years. What we have done is change from a caravan to a motorhome. Even with the caravan we would usually only stay 3 or 4 nights then move on and many times just 2 nights if it was a weekend.
I do wish this bad attitude between caravanners and motorhomers would stop, does it matter what type of vehicle we enjoy our hobby in.

I liked that, but do you really think there is bad feeling TG?
I think, like "block booking" and "serial cancellers" it's a bit of a myth, unfortunately caused by rather thoughtless wording in some posts.
Luckily, on site, everyone gets along just fine!
