I think some of you are much too concerned about the technical side of the software. I sometimes read another forum - outside of caravans altogether - the software is modern and slick but the content is sluggish, tedious, laboured and boring. It's the membership and their attitudes and outlooks which are strangling it - not the software.

This forum software works after a fashion. It's good enough for the casual user to ask questions and get advice, which is what caravan forums are all about. . I quite like it's quirkiness and idiosyncrasies. But then I only visit for a few minutes every couple of days or so.
Those whose whole life revolves around continually posting all day on this forum, may find it slightly limiting.
I suspect that many of this forum's previous users are finding Faceache much more to their liking and to that end I forsee sometime soon, that the CMC will ditch this forum in favour of their Facebook alternative.

That has answered a lot of thoughts regarding the CT forum, and I can now understand why some parts of it seem frustrating and slow, as opposed to other elements of the website, which work very well.

A useful contribution which gives us a wider understanding of the problems that might pertain to this forum. It's quite interesting to contrast Club Together with the C&CC offering which is very basic and makes Club Together look quite sophisticated. However what you rarely ever see on the C&CC forum is criticism of the actual forum. Perhaps pre new forum expectations were raised too high which has lead to dissatisfaction amongst some members?

Being one of those fairly small, friendly and compliant group of regular contributors, may I say, that I take exception to your use of the word COMPLIANT.
We are not robots, we are adults and are treated as adults, showing and being shown Respect in return.
We have no fear of acrimony or petty moderation as happens on here. Help is readily and swiftly given without criticism. Moderation is fair and swift, (rarely required) and never anonymous, as is often the case on here.
As for there being a fairly small group of regular contributors, that relates to roughly 10% of total members, what percentage does CT have?
Your comments about the few active moderators hardly do you credit...

I think the major difference between the two Clubs forums is:
The C&CC presents you with a list of the latest post when you log on and if the subject is not clear, hovering on the heading brings up the first few lines in the main body of the text. With the CMC forums its all clicks and looking at endless pages to see what is going on and to track down new posts. You can also go straight to the last post on a subject on the C&CC's forum. All in all much less time and effort is required to keep up with C&CC posts. Probably less demand on the servers as well! It is not that busy either, mainly because they insist on real names being used, Mind you activity on here is in my view dwindling to the same levels.

I suppose to a certain extent any forum will only be as interesting as its users make it, and compared with a lot of forums, touring based and others, there are a lot of topics which cannot be raised. This is very much a Club based offering, and in many ways, that is its most interesting feature as well as occasionally it's limiting point. Having said that, there's usually something new to learn, and we have picked up lots of tips around which sites will suit us, and shared some nice places to visit, and some helpful advice. It will certainly be very helpful when we come to tour overseas.

A good indication that an hobby/special interest forum is on the way out is when the post count relating to the reason for the forum, be it Boating, Caravanning, Photography Etc. becomes vastly outnumbered by "Pointless posts" and the FB clone, "What I'm doing today".

As a relative newcomer to Motorhoming I find this forum very useful. I view it about 5 days week & will continue to do so in the future.
The only posts I find unhelpful are the ones aimed at slagging the club off. The forum is excellent but there are a small number of moaners, but thankfully they are in the minority
