A mixed trip into town. It's Black Friday 😲 so busy and the local kids have a non pupil day 😲😲.
Success with few seasonal items, some half price but not Black Friday deals. 😆
OH new glasses varificols, as before, not giving clear vision. Young lady dispensing seemed quite uninterested when he remarked on unclearness of either pair (clear and sunglasses) when reading, in fact saying maybe it was the light in there! Pointed out that opticians usually much lighter than other places and often could see better in there than elsewhere. Decided to take it a little more seriously and so he was passed on to an optician, who thinks it's because there's a large change in the prescription, so retest tomorrow. Surely if there is a large change. It would be because eyesight warranted it?? I suspect eye measurements not quite spot on for varifocals?? He goes to a large, well advertised on TV company, I popped into the family run one I've used for years to order more lenses - don't have to give my name, fantastic personal service. He has new glasses to try after a nights sleep and before retest. Certainly no better in lowlight at home 😲😤.
Going out to our newly opened M&S Food Hall, sadly out of town, for a nosey and stock up very soon. Still walkable from home but return with supplies maybe a bit too far!

Fabulous morning here at Cirencester - a complete contrast to 48 hours ago. Clear, calm, frosty and beautiful blue skies!
So we bit the bullet and drove up to Bibury for our walk and it wasn't nearly as muddy as I'd imagined, so a little paddle in the stream to clean up Lady's paws at the end was all that was needed.
Very disappointed to not have my camera with me because a kingfisher was perched on one of the trees by the stream and kept flitting up and down into the water.Bought some smoked trout when I got back so a special treat for tea tonight - and a lot healthier than the pizza, curry and fish & chips of the last three nights!
The site is getting very busy now; the bottom section is apparently being taken over by a rally for the weekend.

Stunning day here in Norfolk although a little chillier than the passed couple of days. Wall to wall sunshine with blue sky. Arrived at CL before 11am, set up, early lunch and then off to Sculthorpe reserve. Watching a stunning sunset whilst also eyeballing the moon.

WE will have our decs up on 15th or 16th December on site at Southport. Not sure there will be much outside this year though. We have, in the past, used small foldback sprung clips such as to hold paper. Worked well but over the 2 weeks stay left a few rust marks on alloy channel. Easily polished off. However new van is painted or whatever white channel.

I guess the tipping point came when I'd tried injections and found no improvement. The pain I had was really bad when I first got out of bed or had been sitting for a while for instance after driving a fair distance or just sitting reading etc..
Although I was taking pain relief and could manage to walk short distances with tolerable pain, I came to the conclusion that things were not going to get any better but would gradually get worse and it was worth a few weeks of inconvenience to get a lot of benefit.
The surgeon had obviously come to the same conclusion and agreed straight away to list me for the operation. I'd do the same again in a heartbeat.

In Norway the traditional start of Christmas is "Little Christmas Eve" , December 23rd.
On that day Dad and I used to go out in our woods and find a nice tree, about 2 metres tall to bring home, then the whole family would decorate it.
That night we hung up our stockings so we woke to presents from Santa on the 24th.
On Christmas Eve we had a traditional meal of "rice porridge" and exchanged gifts, then on Christmas Day we had the main meal of fish and roast pork.

It sounds as if you were much worse than me. I suppose I was in a similar situation with my hip. During September we did a couple of 6 kms walks and even today (still recovering from whatever I have done to my other knee) a kilometre or so. I often use a neoprene support on the knee which I find gives good support and I have ordered one for the other knee. We are off to Chatsworth soon so will have to walk from the site to the house and back which will be a bit of a test? Glad to hear you recovery is going well.

Tonight I finished making the 6 drawers for the tall unit in our kitchen........finally!
The fronts are solid wood, so I still need to remove them again to varnish the wood becore OH takes them into use.
Tomorrow we are going to DD's to start painting the nursery, so our kitchen will be on hold now till Monday at least.
The snow we had earlier did not last long, pretty much all gone by mid afternoon.

Hope that you are able to do the same with your new van.We're well passed 1500 nights in ours, since 2011, and hope that it will last as long again!!

We are off to watch two of our grandchildren playing football against each other in opposing teams. This could be interesting!! I think we will need to wrap up warm though as it is very cold.

Very frosty and cold but sun shining
ground frozen so no muddy dog this morning, happy days. It's a day out in the Cotswolds today, a walk and hopefully a nice pub lunch, also plan to take a walk round Moreton in Marsh Christmas Market.

We visited friends in north Gloucs yesterday, left mid afternoon and didn't get home till 7pm. We got stuck on the M5 for over an hour in the dark due to a multi vehicle crash near Clevedon, long day, chilly night.
On the way up we tried out the ecotricity plug in for our EV at Gloucester services, we got a fast charge in 15 mins. We had signed up for the app so paid by card, under £5 inc vat. We backed into the wrong charge point at first attempt as there are two fast and two slower ones, the slower charge takes about 45 mins, ok if you've got time for a longer break. So far we've clocked up over 2000 miles for less than £30 inc petrol and electrics. We've only charged up once away from home, a previous one was free.

We've had a hard frost overnight but woken up to another beautiful sunny morning with clear blue skies. The power went off several times early yesterday evening - I blame all these ralliers with their awning heaters and Christmas lights
- but the wardens were on the job very quickly restoring power so well done them!Decided on lunch at the posh pub in Barnsley as a special treat today, so just a local walk over in the park this morning, then an afternoon watching the rugby while Lady catches up on her beauty sleep!

That's an interesting insight Brue. I was at one of our local shopping outlets mid week and noticed to charging bays. Both were in use, however there was a frustrated chap waiting to plug in, he had come off nearby motorway looking for a charge up point, was having to wait, but was clock watching. Clearly a need for more bays.

At some point we shall have to review our fleet. We currently run a big diesel 4x4, a big petrol/lpg 4x4, a petrol classic, and the MH. We couldn't survive in Winter around here without a 4x4, we get snow and it's very hilly, plus we still tow caravan, so we shall keep a 4x4. The other costs us little other than usual tax, insurance, lpg and passes its test every year, so easy and cheap to fix any problems. It's our fun toy as well. The classic hardly moves, another toy, well wrapped up and loved. The MH is our holidays, all year around! Not going to be easy to part with anything!

Thats what we are doing just now. We tradedin our motorhome and went back to caravanning so bought a Volvol V70 to tow it we also have a Peugeot 107 a Mazda MX-5 a Rover 75 and a classic Merc. The Rover and 107 are up for sale just now and I think the MX5 will be going soon too. We just want to be left with the caravan V70 and the Merc

We need two daily run arounds, ok to transport dogs as well. Mum luckily can climb into either Jeep at the moment, with a 'bunk up'! Cars are my OH's great love, he is always on the look out for another! Once we downsize and move, something is going to have to go though! A little electric car will be useful then. None of our cars do huge mileage any more nowadays. We tow caravan with either Jeep, useful if one has any issues with a holiday pending! We sometimes take a Jeep with us as well as MH as well, if we go to stay up in North Yorks. Chance to play a bit on the Moors!

We have reduced our vehicles, the M/H, the EV and an MGB that hardly gets used and although it's under cover etc won't do well without a lot of loving care. The M/H and EV are both rear wheel drive so hopefully not too bad in poor driving conditions. I think two vehicles is enough for us now after years of "doing up" classic and vintage cars. Things change, we've enjoyed all sorts of cars.

This morning, we drove to Worthing in the Smart car and then swapped over to the Shogun. So the Shogun got a 12 mile run around Long Furlong. It had not had a run since Monday. Then we swapped over to the Smart car again to fill up fuel and do some shopping at Tesco Extra. We bought a medium sized real Christmas tree with lights for £8 which will decorate the front window of our caravan.
We got back to our caravan twenty minutes ago, just in time for lunch!
Now less than 3 hours till I start work as I'm doing 16:30 to 22:30, 6 hour shift.
