Customer Focus

It seems that the message from previous threads / posts regarding members arriving at sites before the appropriate time isn't working or is just being ignored .
Wardens are clearly cracking down on arrival time ...its part of their job to ensure the site is run efficiently & safely for everyone .
Its our responsibility as members to assist where we can , if getting there at the stated arrival time & not before is part of the running of the site , then so be it .
That's what member focus should be about .👍

We had to be away from a commercial site in Norfolk by 1100hrs last week and the next site cc was less than half hour journey away,we contacted the cc site and was advised that as we had been good enough to contact them and advise of situation then we would be very welcome, when we arrived(at 1128hrs)were booked in,even though we said we would wait until 1200hrs,(this site is one that is trying a pm cleaning of facilities)

I'd love to know where all these lay-bys, suitable for 40 odd feet of car & caravan are to be found. I can't even think of any locally, let alone in a strange area. When a site is half empty, it's just an officious warden that turns members away till the stroke of 12

They can be scarce on some routes. If it looks like I will be too early I look for a layby in the last 20 miles on approach.
My satnav usually gives me a good estimate. I have arrived early twice that I can recall. That excludes when I have been told that I can arrive early when I have requested on a few occasions.
On one occasion I put the wrong addy into satnav and arrived 15 mins early at Tredeager House. Decided that wide access with plenty of places to pull over if necessary.
The other occasion was travelling from Clumber Park to Hebden Bridge when I was ignoring satnav rather than giving it a multitude of way points to get the route that I wanted. I was 10 mins early.
Usually no more than 5 mins which I consider acceptable but more often about 12.10pm.

To the OP - if possible go abroad.
Very few rules and regulations, no pegs or park this or that way round, probably more sunshine, arrive whenever you feel like turning up and also feel appreciated of your custom.
We do - as often as possible.

Except if they are closed for lunch, pretty common occurrence outside of France. Ok no problem waiting at the gate but you might have a two hour wait before they reopen Makes the CMC site opening times look positively liberal!!!

And yet how often recently have we read praise lavished on C&CC site managers for sticking rigidly to the 1pm arrival time?
Personally I'd like to see a more flexible arrival/departure system on club sites with no access problems, but we have what we have. The OP here was, for whatever reason, in the wrong and I can't see any justification for complaints against the wardens.
I have to smile when I read accounts of unnamed non club sites having a "turn up when you feel like it" policy because I've yet to come across any that do (some, but not many CLs excepted). That's UK Sites I'm talking about - this is the UK section, isn't it?

I have only used one CL in the last 10 years. There are definitely some that I would use. However when I used that CL I asked about arrival times and it was a strict 12pm.
That was sensible and understandable. The entrance road is tree lined and two outfits would not pass. Also the owner is out at work and so has no idea whether outfits have left earlier than 12pm or not.

I don't understand, we are made aware of the earliest arrival time so if you tip up early surely you can expect a possible issue or challenge awaits you. And more than possibly the staff too!! Why gripe?
The other thing is that the C&MC is a network of many sites and not just one isolated site. We know that many sites have site specific issues which impact on arrival times etc., these are well documented elsewhere on this forum, and efforts to manage these site specific issues and challenges are thwarted by those who just 'make it up' for themselves. These instances can also impact on all the rest of us who just manage to get it right and that I guess can just make matters worse for those trying to manage things.

I suppose I'm just lucky I have an HGV detail based sat nav regarding large layby information on all the UK road network it covers most of Europe too.
It might mean a little effort for those who aren't as blessed what with the internet , Google earth , Google maps it's all there if you can be bothered .👍

I find I can't balance my tablet or phone on my knee very well when driving & looking for a lay-by ...... 😉

Perhaps not best to then , let's keep the roads safe .👍

I guess some will argue that they tip up early because they make allowances for issues or problems they may encounter on route. That's understandable but why don't they then make other allowances if everything goes their way instead of attempting to just get their way by ignoring those very time of arrival they were fully aware of in the first place?

Ah it's a sat nav ......not radar 😇

Even if you had radar, it would depend on the Polish vans being fitted with transponders.

So here is a constructive suggestion (if the Head Office mandarins are reading this and not all playing with facebook) :-
Include in the site directions for each site in the Directory details of suitable lay-bys on the approachs. Would be a better use of the space than the "This site is suitable for - caravans!" information.

A lot can happen in that 40 minutes though. Such as starting the six hour wait on the motorway behind an accident.
I have never gone to a site that close that I can rise at a sensible hour and get there before high noon. But if I was, I'd pop into Morrisons (other names are avaiable).
