Beautiful day lots of sunshine after the wet and wild evening last night.
Went to Bicester this morning, saw lots of Red Kites, think they were hoping to spot some road kill. Did a bit of shopping, then back in time for work.
Bakers2 really hope the hedgehog does well, there a so few of them now.

Goodness! £74 sounds a lot, I presume your timer whatever is part of the boiler? They do have you over a barrel when things are tricky to find!
Is it a very old boiler? Ours are coming up on 30 years old,but still going strong.....hope I will not regret that statement!
Our time clocks are separate and we have had to replace both in the last few years, but the boilers themselves are fine, though no doubt inefficient compared to new ones. We have 2 boilers as we have the main house and the "granny flat", so if our main one goes, we can move "next door" temporarily.
We are dreading having to replace a boiler as nothing seems to last these days!

KjellNN it was the 'brains' for the system. PCB with time, temperatures and settings. We decided, from looking through my trusty household accounts book 😉, the new boiler and programmer etc has been in 15 years! Where does the time go? As our retired plumber tracked down an exact replacement for the discontinued programmer, last one in our town 😆 it was a simple swop. Guy in the shop said if that wasn't the one, he didn't know why they discontinued it, it would be another one which would have required different wiring programmer and electrics box. I'm happy with the outcome 😉.
I do agree nothing is made to last these days.

We've missed most of the wind so it sounds as if we've got off lucky this time round. Managed to get wet again this morning on our walk but fine this afternoon. Glad to hear that all who are out in their vans are safe and well.

Well it's one year since I had my knee replacement surgery and I should have been back to the hospital today but it's been cancelled twice and I go back next Thursday.
I've completed the latest follow up questionnaire on line and the Oxford knee score has gone up consistently and now stands at 96%. The only thing stopping it being higher is the fact that I can't yet kneel on that knee with any degree of comfort. That's made the redecorating a bit awkward but I've now finished the lounge and the small bedroom, relaid the kitchen and dining room floors and nearly finished the decorating of said dining room.
I'm going to have a rest until after Christmas then tackle the remaining two bedrooms.

Recently I've been knitting Nativity Scenes for my grandchildren. My sister has had one for about thirty years, and her children have always loved it --as did mine when they were smaller. I found a pattern, and have spent the evening over the last three weeks knitting.
Unfortunately I can't download a photo here at the moment (not easy on this forum) but will try again tomorrow.

Well thats us officialy Caravanners again. The motorhome was dropped off on Monday and today we drove down to Preston to collect our new caravan. The hand over was excellent and the Volvo towed the van great even during a bit off a snow storm as we passed through the south of Scotland on the M74. We left home this morning at 9am and got back at 20.15 so a long day but well worth it. Now the weekend is to be spent packing the new van.

I was just thinking what good value that was. When we had a PCB go on our boiler it cost £250!!!!

I imagine you are pleased with the result though? I do have a question for you. At what point did you feel the knee replacement was the only option as opposed to managing it or did it become unmanageable? When I had my hip replacement it was obvious it needed doing as I was lop sided!!!! My knees are both troublesome and on the left one I have already had an arthroscopy which whilst not perfect is just about OK. Trouble is I think the other knee is going the same way and I am not quite sure what the tipping point is. When I last spoke to the surgeon he said that, in effect, it was really down to the amount of pain rather than the condition of the knee which decided what action was taken. Would be interested in your views if you are happy to talk about it here.

What a tiny little thing Bakers2. I do hope it survives in the rescue centre. I wonder if there are any more in your garden somewhere?

I hope both Francis and EasyT enjoy their new caravans. I have always found it a bit emotional to part with a much loved motorhome or caravan and hope they go to a good home.
The weather here yesterday was very bright and sunny but with a very cold wind and it is much the same today. I had a lovely lunch out with ex work colleagues yesterday. It was great to catch up with everyone's news.

I hope this forum hasn't been taken over by meal photos. OH bought it in and called for scales. I needed to find suitable holder to weigh it in - fast. Grabbed holiday dog bowl and reset scales. It weighed 144g so far too light to hibernate (500g). Next we had to find box and keep hedgehog safe so popped some dog food in the bowl too. He was collected by Hedgehog Haven to over winter. We were asked to name it and OH came out instantly with Arbuthnott 😲😂😂. So that' who it is and we should be offered it back in the spring.
Milliehull we are wondering the same and keeping an eye out, I don't think Arbuthnott is the one we saw at the weekend. Hedgehog Haven are inundated with hoglets. Upside I now have box to keep it in and container on hand to weigh it 😉

Beautiful still autumn morning here. Even our uninteresting tree seems to be pretty this year. Maybe it doesn't like the name it's been christened in the 32 years we've lived here 😉.
Off into town OH new glasses to collect some seasonal shopping and hopefully lunch out 😆.

I thought cost most reasonable. But it's one of those jobs that you have to pay what it costs to get it sorted. At least it was a long way off the debate of should the whole system be replaced 😲😲. The cost and inevitable delay involved just before Christmas!

No damage, luckily, Bakers2. It was one of the outside roof poles that came adrift, so it was easy enough to put it back together and secure the guy ropes.
Yesterday evening we put the Christmas lights up in the awning so it's starting to look a bit more festive!

Last night we headed west to Ulverston to see Oysterband - luckily the road was open (having been closed for flooding and then an accident).
A wonderful gig that lifted the spirits.
And shortly we are heading east to Harrogate for a Chris Rea gig tonight. But no driving back in the dark - but a night in a hotel.

I am probably living in the past....everything repair related seems expensive these days!
Was the £250 the cost to have it replaced, so labour included?
Presumably the £74 B2 paid was just for the part, I was comparing that with the stand alone programmer for ours that I recently paid about £40 for.
These boilers where all the controls are in the boiler do seem more expensive to repair. Our system is very simple by comparison, but no doubt impossible to get spares for these days!

Snowing here, started about 10, now quite big wet flakes so hopefully will not last long. Looked like there was a little overnight too as there was a dusting on the deck when we got up.
Cold enough to need the heating turned on again.
OH is due at a meeting at 13.30, I may decide to drive her if the roads are still white.

Yes it did include labour but I doubt whether it took more than 15 minutes to swap over!!! The boiler was only three years old when it went. You can buy a lot of these things online much cheaper than through the proper channels but the likes of BG insist on only using genuine supplier parts which obviously keeps the price high.

Very Busy preparing for Christmas 'ere in the County Palatine -- well I've written & delivered one Card ( They head for Fuengerola or summat like that
next week !! ) for Those Who Will Be Absent **, then booked a load of medication on line -- this does seem to work, but its taking at least 7 working days 
** These Capitalised Phrases Are Catching -- really must stop reading those 'Arry Potter kids books,

Nice bright start when out with Rosa,plenty of squirrels to be chased up trees followed by a war dance round each tree,
As it is still dry decided to cut grass (3 areas)then time to take Rosa again still plenty of squirrel chasing to do, now home and both of us nacked ,so hot crumpets and tea for lunch

The problem is that the sun sets at 4 p.m., Metheven, so there's a need to do something to brighten up the long dark evenings!

It's the 12 days of Christmas which start Christmas day. Dec's in our house up last weekend before Christmas, even if that's Christmas eve. Won't do much this year as will be down no later than 27th as going away! Sadly shops and work places will have decorations away before the new year. And the shops will be putting out easter eggs and hot cross buns. It's all about the £ in the till.
